I'd be interested in the consensus on the finish on this one. I don't think the RH stove should be cad as pictured, but rather should be semi-gloss black.
Anyone???

Also how about the finish on the PCV fresh air tube from RH rocker to air cleaner? Black? Cad? Phosphate?

Default scoop

Chad, everything looks great.. my 71 white TA from Yakima, looks same,, great area.
I have an original paint early 71 scoop, friend gave me from Coronado, Cali, many years ago. It still has 455 Ho decals. It's thin, but a little different from 70 scoop. ..
,

UOTE=TA455HO;5238032]Wow, 100 tons!!. Best I have in my garage is 30 tons. And while I have a great bearing splitter that's about it for accessories so far. I'll PM you later.

Thanks all for your help and encouragement. Here's some more intake related stuff.

Here's the stove pipe elbow part number 481991 for the right side of the engine. Should be original. They are a bit thicker metal than the reproductions that I've held.

Here's one you might call BS on me about, but this car when I got it, had a thin lip shaker scoop. I know there was some carryover from 1970 and it says some of that in the assembly manual but I couldn't find the section I was looking for yet. It seems to be in nice shape. No cracks. Getting close to ready for paint, but now I was reading how Mr. Norwood redoes those, too. Well, take a look.

Part number molded into the underside 481689

The flapper door works very smoothly.

Do you think some repair work done here? Seems like a lot of sealer.

A hole on the trailing edge that I believe is for the ground strap that runs to the firewall.

The old seal is still in decent shape. It's got a bit of overspray on the backside but is still very pliable. I could probably bend it into a figure 8 if I wanted to.

Part number molded into it. 481697

Yes, pliable enough for a figure 8...

Air cleaner top lid has been blasted and painted. Too shiny? This is part of 6486669

Underneath side

One of 2Manys favorite parts. The 481991 pipe. I primed this after blasting to keep it from flash rusting. What was the thought on the finish for these tubes?

This is visually the same duct as 479482 and 483652 but is the replacement 9797496 part. It should fil the void.

Here's a 479212 elbow with the flat at the bend for clearance.

And an original with tower clamp. I'll try to get a close up of that later but it is a 2 5/8" Wittek with a 4/70 date on it. That's about the oldest thing I've seen on it yet.
Not positive that is original.

The old heat riser shroud. I've had some of these parts replated by a local cad shop (twice now) but they always start to turn a light green over time. Maybe I need a new cad plater.

And the shroud from passengers stove.

The 3959115 Switch Assembly for the shaker flapper activation.

And the 9788460 Clip (same as 9796744) to hold the switch to the bracket.

More soon.....[/QUOTE]

Has anyone ever figured out what the yellow/green film is on these bushings? The upper control arms rod used similar, yet smaller, bushings.I have NOS of both and the upper's have a green'ish film like the lower in the 1st ebay link you show does. Often thought it was a dry film lubricant?? any ideas...

I would think like you stated, a dry film lubricant, maybe also to help prevent any surface rusting?

E mailed Bills guy on the rivets and here is his reponse. I did use the bolt in ones on my car and they look good. If someone wants real rivets I will do it for the same amount. Seems like a good price to me.

from Bills guy
"Cost to rivet ball joints into Corvette a-arms is $15 per arm including rivets. Camaro and Chevelle are $20 per arm. We do have bolt-in rivets for $7 per arm that you can install."

The rivets have arrived for the upper ball joints. I'm working on the original upper A-arms getting them ready for paint.

Here's a few more pics. Hopefully if someone searches on a part number this will give them something to reference.

Chapter 4 Verses 2 and 3 - Rear Suspension

I used a few parts to get the diff under the car so I could move it around so don't have everything available for pictures.

Lots of white (probably overspray) on these so they went back white. I put the bumpers on but if these are commonly done a different way what is the thought?

483746 7.535 All F BUMPER 2 1971 1975 7-24

1378333 Nut

3918503 Screw

These are the screws that hold the bracket on. You can see the white overspray on them. Still need to get these refinished. Hmmmm.

3980955 7.526 All F BRACKET LH 1970 1975 7-23
3980956 7.526 All F BRACKET RH 1970 1975 7-23

I used a set of these to make the car a roller. Only picturing the one. The 956 is mirror opposite. Once I remove my diff for detailing I'll show pics. The originals I've seen say MADE IN CANADA as

pictured.

481834 5.395 All F, X BUMPER (pinion nose) 1 1967 1975 5-11

Sort of hard to capture that number molded in the rubber.

3192293 Rear shocks dated 239-70 (August 27, 1970) A Thursday.

These still have a lot of resistance but the upper rubber is sure in need.

Here's the invoice.

I'm not sure what Householders, Inc. was but when I google the address it looks like a place a 1971 Trans Am might have sold from. Check it out. Looks like it is a Chinese restaurant called Great Wall and Don's furniture store and a little place called Illusions. Anyone know the spot?

1112 East Main Street
Lancaster, OH 43130

https://www.google.com/maps/place/11...327117!6m1!1e1

And just for fun, the license plate that will go on the back once it is on the road. This is an original unrestored 1971 passenger car plate. I like the license plate number. Original 1971 license tab, too. Obviously not used more than the one year.

Yes, welcome. That is so cool to just mention it thinking nobody would have any info and here you are. I'll PM you my e-mail. I'd love to see anything you have. I'm a bit in shock.

If you have more than one of any old license plate frames, key fobs, ads or anything that could be framed for display at a show or conversation piece...well, keep me in mind. Even something I could copy and return perhaps.

Thanks
Chad

I pulled it off O Householder's Facebook page. I believe it's probably a High School program ad. Very cool!

That's my dad Richard Householder and my Uncle Tom Householder. Not sure where this car competed, I recall it participated in an event at Daytona. Not sure what event. My dad raced everything from go carts up. He took a 58 Bonneville right off the transport truck and raced it successfully. He said it was an automatic, and he would watch the opponent's nose go down when they shifted, and he would gain on them every shift until he nosed them out every time!

I certainly don't mind the pictures here in the thread. Anything to do with Householder's dealership.
