I'm no expert, but I have never heard of
a ram air sticker on the trunk lid of a
judge.

The RA4 sticker on the decklid can be traced back to black & white pictures in one of the old GTO books that was published in the late 70's-early '80's...can't remember which one. Have an old friend that even put one on his Judge in this location 25 years ago. The origon of this maybe even earlier, but it was not original.

FWIW, there have only been a few cutting edge concours restored '69 RA4 GTO's & RA4 Judges to show up at Nationals over the last decade, & none of them have had this decal in on the decklid.

I don't think it's correct, but it looks great
If I had a '69 RA4 I would put it on.

If you are a member of the GTOAA check out the front cover(May 2002),Its a 69 GTO and it has the RAM AIR4 decal on the trunk right above the GTO emblem. The only ones I have seen this on is the 69 RAM AIR 4 cars and I have seen several. When I got mine it was in primer so I didn't know if it should have the decal or not.

My 69 Judge is a RA III car but my buddy has a 69 RA IV car and it doesn't have the RA IV sticker on the rear deck, only on the hood scoops. I believe the 70 Judges with a 455 had 455HO on the end of the Judge spoiler. I think I also saw the 455HO above the GTO decal on the rear sides and rear deck during the 70's but never on a Judge.

Paint RA IV on both doors. That is just as incorrect as putting it on the trunk lid.

The 1972 GTO had the 455HO logo beneath the "GTO" on the rear quarter panel. Also, the first and last time there was an "HO" identifing the engine on the trunk lid just under the GTO.

In 1971 there was "455 HO" on the side of the spoiler (on the side of the wing), as well on the very front and side of the hood scoop.

The 1970 models had a "455 C.I.D." underneath the GTO emblem on the front fender.

My story is similar to OPH's.

I always thought that 1969 RAIV GTOs (not Judges) had this decal on the decklid. Proof would be some factory pictures, which I believe was in the Big Little GTO Book.

However, according to some friends in-the-know, this never made it to production.

I like it and would put it on my car if it was the right car.

I have 2 RAIV cars, both 69's, one Judge, one GTO.
The RAIV GTO is a repaint, but the car was restored to stock as close to 100% as possible. Previous owner was even more of a fanatic than I am. Which if you know me is hard to believe.

In any case, BOTH cars have the RAIV sticker above the GTO emblem on the trunk lid.

The Catalog of Pontiac GTO ID numbers 1964-74...shows a RAIV car WITH the sticker placed above gto emblem.

I have seen old road tests both with and without these stickers. My personal opinion is that they DID NOT come with these stickers placed above the rear deck emblem from factory, but somehow someone picked up on it along the way and they became standard.
