69 Firebird pitman arm
I have a 69 Firebird with manual steering, I want to convert it to power steering, the pitman arm on my manual steering is curved, is the pitman arm for power steering also curved and does it matter what ratio the gear box is or does one 69 Bird power steering pitman arm fit any ratio gear box, AND DOES ANYBODY OUT THERE HAVE A 69 FIREBIRD PITMAN ARM FOR POWER STEERING, PLEASE HELP,

For what it is worth..I had thought that the Manual pitman arms were straight and the power ones were curved...maybe that is for 67-68?

Thanks, forgot about the OHC 6 and knew about the Camaros (having six of them sitting here)...so same pitman arm for Manual or power box - mental note to self.

no not the same, yes 67-69 birds w v8s used curved pitman arms, and p/s- m/s pitman arms do not interchange!

Look at E-bay item # 300241771200
$5 plus shipping isn't to bad.

The sector shaft is larger on a power steering gear, and the hole in the power steering pitman arm for the sector shaft is larger as well.
Manual and power steering pitman arms will NOT interchange. Both manual and power steering pitman arms are curved on V-8 67-69 Firebirds. |
