Valves for -67 670 heads?
Hi!
I’m about to restore my 670 heads for my -67 GP with 400 engine. I will order some new valves from Summit but I have some thoughts... Stock or stainless? Seames to be some different ones to choose from at Summit. What are your experience and what do you recommend? |

Don't know if you ever got the heads redone yet, but I would go with stainless on the exhaust ports because those get hot from the exhaust exiting the head.

Most recommend the Ferrea stainless 5000 series.
They're available from Butler, Ebay & lots of other places. https://butlerperformance.com/c-1400...ce-valves.html https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ferrea-Stai...!US!-1&vxp=mtr SI also sells stainless valves. They have the hi perf type, with no O-ring groove, and the stock type, which does have the O-ring groove. According to the SI rep I talked to, the stock type exhaust valves are stainless, but the intakes are not. But, he assured me that all SI valves are 1-piece. Can't verify. Just passing on the info I was given. A once highly esteemed Pontiac engine builder used & recommended SI valves, FWIW. http://www.sivalves.com/ http://sivalves.com/flipbook/2016-SI-Catalog.html#p=43 I assume that the engine builders here can verify which valves they think are good quality & some that are not.
