Default Cool cop car

I was out in my "other" car last weekend with the local Lotus group. In the middle of our spirited drive though some of the best roads in NW CT/SW MA we came across this tree work- check out the cop car! I know, it's a Chevy, but this is an actual working vehicle for the Granville, MA police dept.

Bonus Pontiac tie in- The JPS edition Lotus Europa in the picture was inspiration for the "Bandit" Trans Am back and gold look.

Some police departments will have an old car on hand for display purposes or parades, etc., but it's unusual to see one that is apparently out in regular use.

I don't know about regular use- this was a gorgeous Saturday morning and doing traffic control on a quiet country road. Fair weather and ceremonial use, I'm sure. I'd bet it gets put away for the season as soon as the snow starts flying. Still pretty cool though.

Cool - a friend of mine owns a JPS edition Europa. It's the only one I'd ever seen.

We actually had two legit JPS Europas on this drive, along with two more earlier Europas. They're neat cars, but I don't think I could even fit in one- They are tiny! My car, the red RHD Excel, looks downright huge compared to the Europas.

Did you notice an engine call out on the fender as you drove past?
I'm curious if it has a 427. Could be an 'ordinary' Biscayne that's been retro restored into a squad car.

Cool Police car, I doubt I would stop if that thing pulled up behind me though!

I worked on a job 30 years ago and the old timer (he was a car guy) had a Europa in his barn collecting dust. I thought it was a cool looking car. I checked on it after about 15 years and it was still there. Havent heard anything since but he is long gone. I think his son is still there. Every once in awhile when I drive past I wonder if that poor old car is still in that barn. I dont think they get a lot of love, maybe they are Love/Hate cars. I have seen a couple custom models that are pretty sweet.

That's awesome!

Up here on the MA/NH border I see Hmmwvs doing details sometimes. It's always a cool sight

that's cool! I bet the officers get a kick out of being able to use it.

The town of Winthrop in Eastern WA has this car. They usually park it next to the highway coming into town where the speed limit changes and put a couple dummies inside it so it looks like someone's in it.

Sure looks like a Chicago PD replica. If it is the same car, it has a fire breathing 250 under the hood, which was common back then for big city patrol cars..

I had in the early 80's a 1968 Caprice 4dr hardtop with a 396. Light green. The 396 emblems were faded and hard to read. One of the nicest cars I ever owned.

A friend of mine from high school is a city police officer in Flint Michigan.

He has a '64 Chevy painted up like a police car.

He said he will take it when he is sent to break up a fight. The young men will usually stop their tussle and come over to look at the car.
