Default Variable ratio steering

I know it was an option on the 68, if I want to add it do I replace the steering pump or the steering box?

Install a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee steering box. 2.5 turns lock to lock and great road feel. Did that for my 67 GP. It's like driving a completely different car. No wandering on the highway, nice a firm.
