Still having the same amount of people over this year. In fact we'll have a few new additions to the gathering.

My niece came down with COVID at college and my wife and I were traveling recently so we’re keeping it small this year.

Just the wife and I this year. Everyone playing it safe. Just lost a good cruising friend two days ago to Covid. Hospitals full in the county and refrigerated trucks for bodies. Nice to see some folks do take this seriously

Just 6 of us getting together this year at my stepdaughter's house. I making my grandmother's scalloped oysters (I'm the only one that eats them but that means more for me. ), but forgoing her real fruit salad until Christmas.

So to everyone, have a Happy Thanksgiving. Hopefully when the next one arrives things will be back to normal.

My wife and I will be hosting the same number of family, but we will be doing it via Zoom!

Zoom has graciously waived their 40 minute maximum meeting length for free accounts through all of Thanksgiving day and evening.

Actual number at the home will be two, my wife and myself (that means leftovers for a longer period of time).

Be safe everyone, and hopefully by next Thanksgiving some amount of normalcy will return.

Jon.

This is how I arrange my cranberry sauce. I only like canned sauce. I lay it on its side, slice it into 1/2” slices, then cut it down the middle from end to end and it falls into a pattern. Works best while warm before you refrigerate it.

My wife makes her own. I don't know the recipe, but I know it includes some wine, orange zest and at least 4 or 5 Penzey's brand spices.

Seriously, the cranberries and the turkey are the only thing that matters to me. The mashed potatoes are fine, whatever vegetable is fine. But I need the cranberries and the turkey...

Oh, yeah, and nice glass of white wine to pair with the turkey!

Christmas will be at her house as usual, except for our grandson, who joined the Marines in March as the lockdowns started. Poor kid has not been allowed off a Marine base since he entered the Corp, and all his travel since reporting to MCRT San Diego has been on military transport. Marine Corp bus from San Diego to Camp Pendleton and military transport plane from CA to Pensacola, FL.

Bring on the vaccines so we can be released from the government mandated lockdowns and we can go see our grandson or he can come home to see us.
I didn't post anything about the possibility that our grandson would be able to come home for Christmas. At Thanksgiving he called us to let us know he'd been given purchase a fully refundable ticket to come home - but no guarantees that Christmas leave would happen.

Well, I'm extremely happy to report that...

The Marine has landed!!!

Our grandson and his mom at the airport in Madison.

My Christmas wish has been granted.
