Thumbs up

Back into the late 80's early 90's with my 455 035 over factory block, RAM4 Heads, cast factory crank, roller cam 630 net lift, 440 lobe, Warrior Intake we managed 9.50 ET's, and did dip into the 40's. Speed was high 130mph If I remember correctly. Car weighed 3100lbs. Custom stepped headers, turbo 400 with 8" converter.

Ah, I thought this was just for n/a combos, my turbo combo below-
'59 389 block with welded up valley/mains girdle/dry decked, o ringed and reverse cooled, bore was 4.090" x stroke 4.00", 96 siamese ported heads, 7.5 -1 comp, BRC pistons, 6.70" ali top meth rods, Comp solid flat tappet 250 ish degrees @.050", .875" lifters, modded Offy 360 dual 4bbl intake with dual 600 Holley double pumpers, 1 3/4" headers into twin MP T70mm turbos, water/meth charge cooling, ran footbrake 8.90's@163mph on a very soft tune at 17-18psi, , just under a 1000hp at my 2850lb weight.
New combo is virtually the same but with 4.125" bore, solid Crane roller 260/270 degree @.050", Edelbrock 72cc heads with 10-1 compression, Wenzler Gutsram and Holley EFI, hoping for 1400-1500hp this time at 25psi, car may be 40-50lbs lighter and with a transbrake. Both combos on pump fuel with octane booster added.

Thanks everyone for the information. Because of the increased number of power adders I have split them into their own section.

Stan, TA Man,
I hadn’t planned to list my wagon because of the excellent performance already presented by a wide assortment of cars with stock block engine/factory head owners. However, I did come across a post I made back in 2009, just one and a half years before our track closed, and I had to retire from racing due to health problems.

This post discusses our concept of building a car that remained streetable, but had very competitive performance with moderate RPM, 91-93 octane pump gas, It should be noted that the wagon had a 116” wheelbase, weighed between 4040 and 4080# depending on who was driving and what combination of parts we had on the car. And it was 203” long, 77” wide, and 54” tall – frontal area of almost 29 sq. ft.. Imagine the hole it left in the air at 117 MPH! But it was my choice, and it was quite competitive with many smaller cars.

The referenced post is fairly complete about actual parts, but we used 64, 7K3, 96, and finally 6X4 heads, all ported with my Superflow 110 bench. And we switched to the newer adjustable Rhoads lifters set at .007 clearance with our “giant” 234/244/112 Wolverine flat tappet cam in the last few years, shifting at 5800 with both gears. Used a YC block bored .060 and an N crank stroked/equalized .040 for473 ci since 2000.

I have also attached 4 time tickets obtained over a 2 hour period that illustrates what we mean by consistent (car #5462).

This post is several pages long but has good info about out 1972 LeMans wagon.
