John has spent allot of time on his car and it shows. I would have been surprised if he did not get that award. John's car is is definitely a work of art, and if you have never worked to get to that level. You have no idea what kind of for site and determination it takes to get there. NICE JOB!!!!!

I liked his speech..."I don't care about consistency, I just wanna go FAST!" And congrats on the award. My buddy asked me why I can't weld like you. I answered with "pure lack of ability and talent."

That engine compartment is sweet. This shot will help me as I ponder weight reduction off the front of my car. I see a lot of race cars without the inner fenders installed. It seems like an easy no-brainier way to loose some weight off the front of the car. What are the down sides, or negative impacts of removing the inner fenders? Is there still enough strength to keep everything in place and lined up, once installed and adjusted? I know the inner fenders help to tie-everything together strength wise, similar to a semi-monocoque airframe, but with so many race cars without them, it must be OK. Looks like a custom tube core support and a fiberglass bumper too. I need to figure out how to eliminate the heavy ass monstrosity holding the headlights in position on the 69 front end.
Congrats on the award!

Stupidest thing I every heard.........I don't care about consistenty, I just want to go fast! Seriously...........50% of learning to go fast is getting your car to run a consistent number with a certain set up. Maybe .........just maybe there would be a lot less breakage if racers did it. DAMN that's just plain ol' commen sence! Heck that's what Eric is doing with the Boss Bird! When you get the first part down (consistenty) them the second WILL follow and guess what,'you'll do it without the BREAKAGE......,what a concept!!!

CONSISTENTLY SLOWER THAN POTENTIAL SUCKS AND WILL NEVER FIND FAST. PERIOD. It takes work experimentation and effort to improve. After a great showing at Norwalk I was very pleased with my cars performance. Most will think I'm nuts but the converter is getting changed this week.....I know theres more there, And 12% converter slippage is unacceptable to me. So once again I will LEAVE a consistent car(6 runs between 8.71 and 8.74, 4 of them were 8.71) in search of more FAST. Its why some of us do it....

George, It was nice meeting you. That said your above post does not make sense at all. Making a combo consistent is 10x easier than making it FAST. It is much easier to quit and be happy at consistent than fast. If i settled for consistent i would have been going low to mid 8.90s/151 at norwalk. Mile,
You are absolutely correct BUT you really need to reread my post. Small steps, get consistent on a combo then make another change, sometimes it can be a long process but it will save a TON on parts and in the end you can go QUICK without BRAEKING parts. I mean really who wants to break parts! Oh yea your was very impressive at Norwalk, one of the few cars that really ran well. GTO George |

Mike, that's why there are Bracket racers and Heads up racers.
I hate bracket racing, and can't afford to heads up race. Every trip to the track for me is a chance to go quicker, and that's my goal. (Hate bracket racing myself, but I'm amazed at the talent some of the drivers have) |
