Question REAR TIRE SIZE testing BIGGER NOT BETTER

Is there any DATA that anyone has tried or tested on BIG TIRES vs Tires that can get the job done????
My car has 33x21.5 x15 big boys.... many people state car will go faster with smaller tires.
Less weight? less drag? less traction?
i see a lot of cars flying with small tires ... but all have traction controls & such.....
just wondering where that tire size sweet spot is....

That's the most important thing.

Don't need any bigger if it's getting done now.

If you're having problems getting traction, a bigger tire will usually help and make it quicker.

Those tires you mentioned, are they a street tire?

Big difference between street tire and slick.
Could run a lot smaller slick compared to a street tire and get good traction.
(also be a lot lighter so quicker just from that)

Then you can get into different compund tires/slicks where the same size will be slower than another compound

I wouldn't worry about it, unless you're wanting every last .001 second for ET.

Probably looks 100% better than those skinny tire cars anyway.

Depending on the tires used, there may be a tremendous amount of weight savings.

Drag is basically the same slick for slick.

Depends on your car as far as traction, I've seen a guy take the big tires off an old pro-stock truck, put on 29.5sx10.5s and go from 5.00s in the 1/8th on the big tires to 5.08s, but it wasn't just a tire swamp involved, takes a little work as well. This truck is still a N/A truck which is a little different from a power adder vehicle as far as power management is concerned. The sidewalls on a 29.5 won't live long in a high HP application, so you end up having to change tires more often to keep the performance the same.

I don't use traction control, I've been as quick as 1.22 in the 60s on 275s and have tuned a car this year to 1.13 60s on a 29.5 in the July heat on "non-fly paper tracks". The converter plays a huge role in this.

Basically if you want to try a small tire, try it, but just because people are flying on them doesn't mean its easy.
