Default race mufflers

I picked up a set of race mufflers. They're the cheep ones made like glass packs. They fit my 3- 1/2" headers and are 9" long with rows of holes on the inside. The holes are punched from the back, so the inside is rough and jagged. Are these going to kill my performance? I'm just wanting to tone down the exhaust a little. Thanks

They act like a Cheese grader to Exh flow for the most part!

That type of muffler needs a much bigger diameter then your collector to minimize that effect.

This will depend on the combo. I have run that type muffler in the past with very little reduction in ET. This was on a 11 second car. X pipe will also help quiet it down.

The combo is a 461 solid roller, 330 e-heads, with a 1050 Domanator . The exhaust is Super Comps headers 12" of 3 1/2' pipe mufflers and turn downs. Race only. I'm trying to not have that sharp tone that hurts the ears and save what hearing I have left. Thanks

It depends on a lot of factors, but you may go faster. When NHRA started requiring mufflers in Super Gas(years ago, sometime in the 90's), we actually picked up, though we had the same concerns as you initially that it would cost power. Experiment with different length pipes, merge collectors, etc. You may go faster and quieter.
