It ain't worth that without the Window Washer.....
But on second thought I only need my windows done a couple times a week........ He has dropped his asking price quite a bit.... http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...=window+washer Last edited by Norwood; 12-11-2007 at 10:46 PM. |

Very desirable with those miles, 4 speed and color, but I would at least put some original Ralley II's back on it. Those shouldn't be that hard to find.

I think for an original 8,900 mile car it doesn't look so good. It looks like a very solid car but, um...let me see (since you asked)....wrong shifter ball, no TCS solenoid, motor looks kind of crusty (not a surprise if it's really an 9K mile car, probably been sitting a lot), no PCV set up, funky plug wires, wrong type of exhaust system (under car duals), wrong tailpipes, shoulder belts either missing or not properly routed (does it has the slack adjustors?), the low rider rear suspension and as mentioned, the UGLY wheels. I know an 8,000 original mile car here in town (blue automatic) and it looks waaayyyyy better than this car, makes me wonder (if the mileage is really correct). I have tried asking the seller a question but no response. Bottom line, I think it's maybe a $100k car to the right person (but he would be lucky to get that in today’s market and this time of the year); it would need a fair amount of work to make it show worthy and for that price I would expect to be able to take it someplace and show it without the work! Besides, my custom window washer is much better (http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/....php?t=540011)!

I think that car is worth 120 to 125 to the right person. It is a low mileage original paint car? Then again I value a original car more than a restored one.

Oh, and another thing, is it me or does the engine color look like silver-blue metallic instead of the slate-blue? Hard to tell with his pictures, for the kind of money he wants you would think he could take some better shots that what he shows. I think if someone offered him $125 he better take it and run!
Come on Chuck, you think I'm made of money!

For a low mileage "original", there are several items on the car that have been changed or modified. Shifter handle, wheels, EGR. etc, etc.. My 79 with 16K has been preserved better than the 74 SD. But I do like original cars and with a little TLC it could be brought back to a stock condition and would certainly be a great addtion for some collection. AT 125K I think there would be too much work to get it back to where it is truely original. It is probably worth closer to 100K. I am biased, but Dick's car is 100% correct and just restored and is in the 125-140K range.

The high bid/offer for the car was $70,000 with a few $1000 and $2500 insults thrown in to boot. A far cry from his $141K BIN. Wonder what he will put it up at next time.........

Dick, I think he needs to rethink that window washer option......It might not be original but it makes the car easier to look at.....

Charlie, Are you sure Dick's Project car is "100% correct".???? 125-140K, I think it's a bit high for a 74 SD 4-speed in this current market now. Don't get me wrong. Dick has a great car there and Red cars are faster! SDD

Dick has a great car there and Red cars are faster! - SDD" SDD - Yeah, I think Chuck is a little (a lot?) high on his price (not on something else....) and yes he is biased. I probably would have taken $100k for the car so I was very close to selling it. For now, it looks really good in the garage! Is any car 100% correct? Probably few and far between. I'd bet each one of us could probably point out something on just about every car that is not correct in some way, these cars are 33 years old now! I certainly know everything about my project car that is good, bad or ugly! It is a very nice car, not perfect, but as you pointed out it is red so that's worth something! I have been out in the garage this week messing with it so at least I'm having some fun.....If it was perfect it wouldn’t be any fun, I couldn't touch it!!

Charlie,
Are you sure Dick's Project car is "100% correct".???? 125-140K, I think it's a bit high for a 74 SD 4-speed in this current market now. Don't get me wrong. Dick has a great car there and Red cars are faster! Super Duty D, OK maybe not 100% correct. Maybe 95% LOL. Anyway the point is it would take a true Pontiac enthusiast and a SD fanatic to point out any discrepancies. I just know that he has gone to extreme measures, and mulls over small details to make sure that the car is represenatative of a new 74 SD (even down to the plastic seat belt clips on the shoulder straps, and color coded vacuum lines). Where most other cars for sale you can look at the pictures (like the ebay car) and point out mistakes. As far as the price, a 73 4sp sold recently that needed a complete restoration for 125K. Sure I like the 73 better, but to get that same car to the condition of Dick's would take another 60-70K at current shop rates. So 125K for a proven 74 SD 4sp show winner or 125K for a 73 SD 4sp seemed realistic to me. But I do think the market has softened in the last few months.
