Default 69 GTO Hideaway Light Switch

Who makes the best hideaway headlight switch? I've order two new switches and they both do not operate in the closed position. Any recommendations? No vacuum is present at the closed port on the switch during closing, but I do get vacuum at the open port when opening. Also the hideaways work perfect when I bypass the switch.

Probably just dried up grease, carefully open the vacuum section and clean it out. Not often that they do not work after cleaning.

Question Are you certain...

that you are hooking them up correctly? Just curious, as it is an easy mistake to make. Ron

LOL! I totally agree..

We should have a section of Parts pics by Year/Model to avoid dups of pics....

I sometimes just refer to my posting on it, but time is very tight these days for me..New kid and all...

The switch is hooked up correctly. I have the picture and schematic. I let the switch hang so I could use my vacuum gage. The switch holds a vacuum in the open position but has no vacuum in the closed position. I do hear air around the switch in the closed position. I called the business where I purchased the switch and the guy admitted they were having problems with the hideaway swithces. I'll return it and try again. I was just wondering if anyone had a good experience purchasing a switch that worked! If so where did you buy it?

I just rebuild the used ones and never had a problem..Never tried the repops..Used ones are out there very often on ebay
and can be bought for cheap if you wait for the right time..I've seen them sit at no reserve on opening bid of $20 with no buyers or go up to $100...They are simple enough to open up and fix/lube to resolve most of the issues...Here are pics of the internals if you wish to see...1st is in open position, and 2nd in closed...

Thanks for the pictures Robz. I'll open the switch before I return it and see if I can get it to work.
