http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...id=p2759.l1259
So, how does it look? I have never heard of this company before. |

"We sell quality carburetor reproductions". I think it says it all.

The problem with this ebayer is that he destroys perfectly good original H.O. units to "make" R.A. units of them.
I would guess he would make better business to restore the carbs and keep them original instead of "remake" them to fake units? This particular carb will never function like an original R.A carb since the carb is a H.O. unit and is cast and machined as such. A couple of holes in the throttle blades will NOT make it a R.A unit. There is alot more in an original R.A. unit that differs from a regular H.O. unit. For that money youŽll be able to by an unmolested 1976-80 Pontiac Q-jet and Cliff Ruggles book an build a carb that WILL work better than most found on ebay. |

Kenth:
Very legitimate points. I think we all wish Pontiac had made a lot more 273's. |

This one looks quite a bit better than others he has offered.
Couldn't tell exactly by pix if its the 68-69 style choke bobber. He used to restamp 70 style carbs as 69's. And 68-69 style as 70's. lol I think there is a hungry market for simulations. Especially if they are done correctly internally as well as externally. Most fall short, even horribly short. One guy on eBay was doing them right internally, and pretty close externally - and getting over $1000 everytime. |

A factory 7029273 with a date code of 1279 would have been stamped "2973## 1279" on the same line, where ## is the picking code. Naturally, this assumes that 1279 was a valid date code for a 7029273 carb. I must admit that the number stampings on this carb are aligned very well. They almost appear as though they were "gang" stamped in the same manner in which the factory stamped them. If this carb is built to RA IV specs, I'd say that it is probably worth the asking price, as the price of this carb is just about what you'd pay to have any quadrajet restored to a factory appearance.

A "regular" 1969-70 Pontiac Q-jet can NEVER be built to RAIV specs due to different design i castings and different machining of throttle plate and airhorn.
It CAN however be made to function well on a R.A. engine. For example, 1969-70 R.A. units does NOT use the POE system the H.O units uses. |
