Default 66 out of hibernation

Owned this car since the mid 70s. Ran briefly at one time, started a restro on, lost interest and pushed it in the back corner. Out of site, out of mind thing. My body guy says he's hungry, I'm not getting any younger, and enjoy driving a ragtop, so the old 66 has seen the light of day once again.

Pluses on this car are virtually rust free, it was mostly disassembled already, so not a lot of work to take the body off the frame.

Will post progress as happens.

Default 66

Caught the son in one pic. He was helping. He says he would rather go to the dentist than work on one of these old things. Lol Think going to put in will for him to get a dental appointment.

Car had Oklahoma plates on it when I got it. Someone from that area here possibly may remember it. Think a welder owned it because there was a bumper sticker on it that said "welders have hotter rods. Lol

Someone may remember the radio station on the sticker on the quarter glass.

Nice. Always wanted a ragtop 66. Do you still have the Red 66 you ran at Bella Rose NMCA race years back?

Yes Mike, still have it. It has been in mothballs too for about 12 years. Got the itch over the spring to make some passes so getting it going again. I'll post a pic of it on this thread little later down the line.

Solid. What color combo was it originally? Looks like Gold exterior but interior looks red? If so, I've never seen that but sounds interesting.

Hey Greg, yes original gold with gold interior. Since the original drivetrain was gone and not a fan of the gold had started going back red, so red it will be.

NIce clean slate to work with there, what's the plan on the drivetrain? And tell your kid to get his priorities straight, I wish my Dad was into cars.

Ha, Chris. Son chases that little white ball around on the ground. I can't say anything, I got him addicted to that one.

Motor wise, Been saving my old 395 pump gas engine masters build. Has trick, very small chamber HPs, with 2.07" intake valves. Have 66 tri power to top it. Have not checked port height to see if there is a problem. Tranny 4 speed, m20 or maybe Doug Nash 4+1. Just put the car on lift for first time yesterday evening. Rear is original 10 bolt 3.23 posi I believe. Have never got a phs on the car.
