This is during the headliner install, before the sail panels went on. I went to trim and install the passenger side sail panel, and trimmed a little too short, will try to stretch it out a little and see if I can cover the spot, but I may have to do it over again. Dang.

This is obviously before I have heated/steamed it, but it would have come out pretty good otherwise. I didn't bother heating it once I trimmed the one side too short.

Finishing up the floorboard, installed the rear harness, amp RCA leads, and amp power lead. Used a couple pieces of gorilla tape just to hold them in place as I laid Dynaliner over it.

When using Dynaliner, I usually remove the jute backing on the carpet when I install it, so the carpet lays better.

The area where the rear harness goes vertical under the rear seat bottom, I didn't cover with Dynaliner, to help the carpet lay better (no bulge).

On the edges, where the floor pan goes level/horizontal, I didn't butt the Dynaliner up against it. That will help the edges at the door openings and where the side panels go lay more flat.

Ran out of Dynaliner, will take a couple days to get a couple boxes in. I plan on covering the area under the rear seat bottom, and about 2/3rds of the upright behind the rear seat back.

Couple pics.

Weather was nice yesterday, 78 degrees, sunny, low humidity, and a light breeze. So went ahead and sprayed the new calipers with caliper paint. On a regularly driven car, when using new calipers, I've seen paint last about 2 or so years.

K, got the carpet out, did some test fits, and looks like it will lay properly without having to remove the jute backing. So finished the rear interior panels, door jam windlace, and laid the carpet, trimming in the appropriate areas to fit.

One thing, I thought originally I was going to have to leave the slope of the floor pan to the rocker area uncovered with Dynaliner, but after test fitting the carpet, that area too I went back and covered, stopping about a 1/4" from the dip the trim plate goes to.

One thing that bothers me a little, with the Dynaliner on the floor, when doing the seat belts, as the bolt tightened down, it kind of puckered the carpet a little. Can't loosen the bolt, or it might compromise the function of the belts, but pretty sure after a couple heat cycles, it will relax.

Almost done with the interior. I'm ready to toss the front carpet section in, trim to go over the shifter, and can toss the buckets and console in. All the dash hookup is done, have 2 grounds to do, the glove liner and door, and one vent tube to install. Should have that all done by end of next weekend.

Have to apologize for not keeping up with this thread, it's been crazy for me lately.

Am about done with the interior. Got the console in, driver bucket, all the pedals, seat belts, few loose wires done, etc. Only a couple minor things left. Need to put the drain in for the evap case, and install the console vinyl inserts.

I got the carbon fiber inserts for the console, and want to match the dash insert. Well, the one I got doesn't match the pattern on the dash very well, so ordered the other color (black). It's better, but still not a 100% match. So I shot an email to Classic Dashes to see if they can provide a source for the same pattern carbon fiber in adhesive sheets, and if so, will just cut some out. Bummer.

One comment on the PUI assembled bucket seats: They used a very dense foam (good thing), and they over-stuffed them. (Not so good thing). I personally don't care for seats when they are 'over-stuffed', because it makes you sit up, and forward, at least 2", if not 3.5". So you lose headroom, and leg room, not to mention it puts the steering wheel almost all the way to your thighs. Not to mention you have to duck your head to get out and keep from hitting the roof. Otherwise, the assembled seats are beautiful, and very well done.

I used Scarebird's F body pedal bracket for DBW pedals, only needed minor trimming, and I used a strengthening plate on the other side of the firewall. I used the OE holes, made them slightly bigger, and did 4 bolts with nuts and Loctite. Location, everything, was great. Thank you Scarebird!

I doctored the eBrake some, and the pad mount, so it doesn't contact/rub the kick panel speakers, which is a common problem. It now clears by about a 1/2 inch.

I cut a hole in the column mount plate for the DBW cable to the pedal, the fuel pump lead, 3rd brake light wire, and the ECU control connector. I have a grommet to run that all thru, and it won't interfere with the carpet protector, which I will install once I run all the wires.

Yeah Jeff, open invitation! You would be shocked on what I do in the space I have! Heheh!

Once I start driving it, I will be out that way too, so can swing by. I'm close, just need to be able to find time off work!

Mounting the fan controller, MSD box, and getting the air intake tube & filter mocked up.

On the fan controller, bought one for a 2006-2009 Ford Fusion, Gates #FCM117K, which includes the harness. This is the identical control unit Corvettes use, and is a very common/desired setup for aftermarket EFi setups.

Sourcing the controller connector is a challenge, many end up going to the bone yards to grab one, and you're never sure which harness you will get. The Ford one has a much beefier power connector, and gauge wire, so it's not as prone to overheating as the earlier units and the Corvette units. The Gates #FCM117K comes with the harness, and includes the beefier connector, so, problem solved.

Also was able to source the mating power connector for the fan, a nice find and somewhat reasonably price (@ $30 shipped, with pins, seals, etc).

So the air intake tube/filter setup, I used Spectre parts, who have a decent selection of tube sizes, shapes, and bends, as well as unions. I have a list of part numbers if any are interested, but basically, it's 2 sections of tube, a 30 or 45 degree accordion union, a 4" filter adapter, and a large cone filter.

I had originally planned on getting the completed tube powder coated, so paying extra for the polished tubing will make for an nice, smooth finish. But am starting to think I may just spray them with engine paint. Will figure that out once I get the 2 pieces tig'd.

I'll get some more pics as I progress, starting to get intermittent warm days, so things will be picking up here.

So bad about updating this thread, apologize for that! I have been working on the project every chance I get, and am getting very close to finishing.

Had the air intake tube tig'd, shot it with engine paint (semi-gloss black), and mocked it up. About to make a bracket, should have that done this week.

Got the rear glass installed, used butyl tape.

Have the interior done, final item is the A/C drain for the VA Air, should have that done this week too. Will do a short section of aluminum tubing in the engine compartment, will clean the look up.

Brakes are done, setting up to bleed those, hoping to have that done by end of coming weekend.

Installed the Flaming River intermediate steering shaft and u-joints, mounted the fan controller, and finished some minor wiring in the engine compartment.

Here's a side shot, need to knock out the rocker moldings, but basically trimmed out.

Next will be to lay out the engine harnesses, check lengths, and wrap them. Once done, will be able to do preliminary sensor and other checks, getting it ready for start up.

I am so bad about updating this thread, and I apologize! I've honestly been swamped though, and every spare moment I have I am working on this project, it's killing me not being able to drive it for so long!

Anyway, so a minor thing I did was mount the coil, which became an engineering exercise! I wanted it as low and out of sight as possible, and didn't want to drill holes or take up space on the smoothie firewall. I basically ended up mounting it between the trans dipstick and the dizzy, and feel that's about as low and out of main view as possible. Of course, this caused an issue with some of the fuel rail lines, which I had to shorten slightly. (pic)

Finished the feed & return lines to/from the intake, I had a section I needed to do which needs to be done prior to bolting down the intake and the filter housing. Got the routing and length worked out, installed the lines on the intake, trimmed the intake gaskets to fit near perfectly, and mounted the intake. Got it almost all bolted down, and realized I had used 2 of the intake bolts somewhere else. Uhg. Dug and tried a bunch of others I had, but come to find out, the ones I need, are only available in the whole ARP engine kit. I tried 2 other types of bolts, but the shoulders were either too big, or they were not threaded the entire length, the unthreaded part preventing the slight movement needed to properly align. So I ordered the kit for 2 bolts. (I have a very wide selection of ARP bolts now thought).

Read an article where a mag was doing a Pypes exhaust system install on a car and commented on having no room to use an X pipe, due to the 4L80E crossmember. So, as an attempt, I purchased a Holley/Hooker 'conversion' crossmember and tried it. No go. The mounting pad was about 1" too far forward, and no way to move the crossmember back any further, so reinstalled the G-Force one. (comparison pic of the two)

Mounted and wired the vette PWM fan controller, used thread-serts and put it on the core in front of and to the side of the front of the battery area. Was able to find the odd connector that is used on the controller, and ran the pulse wire forward, along with the ternary switch wire. This allowed me to also finish the forward harness, and have that installed. (controller mounted pic)

Finished the main ECU harness, mocked it up, adjust lengths, added a few connectors, and wrapped it up with the mesh split tubing. Just need to toss that in there and finish the wiper and power leads to finish all the wiring. Whew! (ECU harness pic)

Items remaining are basically, finish connecting the shifter cable, adjust, and adjust rev light and safety switch. Mock up the exhaust, and do initial programming of ECU. Once that's done, will take it up the exhaust shop to have it welded, get an alignment & inspection, and start shaking it out. I'd be shocked if it took more than 3-4 weekends, so am VERY close!

Here's a shot of the engine harness completed. It started out as an AAW classic update harness, then I removed everything I didn't need, ran some lines together, and grouped/wrapped some together, adding connectors (metripack, weatherpack, etc)

I have 3 wires left for the forward light harness, VSS, PWM fan controller, and trinary switch for A/C.

I should have that done this afternoon, and will mount it all, and get the final wrap over the harness, should really clean up the look.

Thank you! Yeah, it's taken way too long, longer than I had expected, had a few setbacks and delays, but in the finial stretch now! Whew! Figure I should have a startup in about 3 weekends, then it's basically just minor cleanup items, like alignment, A/C charge, things like that.

I'm way over due, chomping at the bit to drive this thing!

Got all the harnesses mounted, have one connector left under dash, and about to put the driver's side inner fender well in. I mounted the MSD box on the inner well, will be behind the battery. (sorry for the dark pic)

This weekend will get the brakes bled, measure for pushrods, and hopefully hang the exhaust.

I can apply power now, once I get the inner well in, and can do pre-startup checks, and initial programming of the ECU.

Thank you! Yeah, did a solid day yesterday, got the inner fender well installed, and most all the final electrical done. Have one connector to do, and need to charge the caps. Should be applying power today or tomorrow, do a walk-thru on lights, and get some initial sensor checks done, maybe some preliminary ECU programming.

Couple better shots. Think I may cover the red power wires, but looking at it from the front, it's really not that noticeable.

All the connectors are behind the inner, under the fender, so out of sight.

The one pic you can see I chose to do some heat wrap to protect the harness from an exhaust tube. At the closest point, it's 5", and it actually is set back more than it looks in the pic. Better safe than sorry.

Pics don't do it justice.

EDIT: If you look below the fender bolt, you can see 2 of the silver mount screws for the ECU.
