This is great - going to be as good as NJSteve's thread on the TA!

Not so intersting today.

Got new heater cables from Ames, not original but no one will see them and the quality seams to be really good.

On the Lemans both doors where taken apart, I left the lock i place, that and the striker was originally painted at the factory, I will however take the lock out before it goes to the paint boot to clean it.

Some rust on the right door, the left side was fine.

The window lift is like new on both sides

Then the moldings and trim was taken off the front window frame

Just one small rust spot , but there are larger issues, you will see tomorrow.

Rear wheel moldings are gone, at this point all the screws and bolts has come out without any problems, I do not use any power or air tools, I might use longer time but I have full control of what I do and can stop in time and take proper action if a problem arise.

And last two pictures of the trunk floor, not any problems here

Love the thread and the pics. My 71 vert left the factory with Canyon Copper also, are you going with the factory color again?

I was thinking of painting it in a light shade of pink

No it will be like the original canyon copper, I really like them in black, silver or red but I do not have the guts to change anything on this one.

Default Day 4, Front sheet metal.

First the front lower panel, some small amounts ot rust and a dent on the right hand corner, should not be any problems to repair it.

Then the bumper went off, it has some scratches and the normal surface rust on the back side, I will try to get it re-chromed.

The upper panel got some issues with the treads in the glasfiber, pretty normal, when it is going back I will use epoxy glue on the treads and a thin coat on grease on the bolts.
It does also have a dent but that will not be a problem to repair.

The fender where rust free, no problems there

Did find this one under the battery tray

No signs yellow/gold cad plating on the brake booster, would it really fade to this zink cad color ??

I do not think the overflow bottle is original, any ideas ?

Original EVAP hose, the clamps where yellow.

The hood spring and look are ok.

And then the only written number in the engine bay so far, this was under the left fender "1920" ? can any one say what this means ?

So the really bad part....

Right side under the front window....... I guess that no rust on a 40 year old car would be to good to be true....

If any of you have a partscar with the cowl intact I would be VERY interested to buy it from you

The left side is not so bad

Espen,

What are your thoughts on the master cylinder? Can you take another shot of it? I saw another 71 a couple weekends ago in a nice survivor that was the "smaller" version for lack of better words.

I alway thought they were the same for PB. But, maybe not?

Does yours have a ground flat area in front with a 2 letter stamped code?

The one on the Lemans now is a new Delco replacement, I had to change it when I bought the car due to rust in the cylinder.

It has been restored, but I painted it with Eastwood brake cast gray and the color is way of so I have to repaint it.

However so is it identical to the one on the car in shape but it has bleeder's, the text on the cap is also different, it does not have DOT recommandations but SAE.

I will take some pictures off it tomorrow so you can see.

Yes it has the two letter stamped code.

I wished my dash pad looked like yours and my trunk floor. That over flow bottle looks like a washer fluid reservoir.

Regarding this size and shape of the master so do If wonder if they used both Moraine and Bendix masters on the same applications.

You know, drums disc and power drum and power disc. however in 1971-72 the only power option should be power disc.. and it should be a Moraine master..

Now I am not sure anymore about mine Hahahaha

Thanks, as that is what I'm use to seeing. Date cast and stamped code.

Not sure if the other was a Bendix (looked like one) as it also had a ground area for a stamp just couldn't get a flashlight angle to read stamp.

Hopefully when Norm starts his 71 GT-37 teardown soon. It will be more evident in pix as to with the master cylinder.

So many cool things can be seen in these clean time capsules.
