Default Intake Manifold Water Pump Leak

Finally going to fix this:
What is the "best" way to replace that donut gasket between the water pump and intake manifold?
Replacing the water and steering pump while I have the rad and fan out now
Tired of the constant leak.

Best way is to pull the intake and get a new donut installed properly.Tom

I agree with Tom. Just be sure to draw the intake forward with the long horizontal bolt before tightening the intake to head bolts.

I make all the bolts like tight finger tight and then pull it up,that way it pulls up flat and does not try to tilt the front of the intake up.FWIW,Tom

Ugh...
So do I need new gaskets for the intake?

Well that was horrible but decided to remove timing cover and get that intake manifold gasket.
Fixed Harmonic balancer sleeve leak too and new water pump; power steering pump.
NO LEAKS

NOW I have a Vacuum Leak
Literally sounds like coming from the center of the carb! Checked lines, PCV, carb bolted down; can't find it. I didn't disturb anything up there.

Any suggestions? It's actually loud on acceleration.

What kind of carb? Longshot here but I had a Holley 10 yrs ago that made a whistling sound I couldn't figure out. Turned out it was a bad run of metal in the carb main body and ethanol ate a hole through it, really strange. Car still ran well oddly enough.

It probably is near the glovebox. AC used vacuum operated doors.
Look at the red circle, you'll see where a vacuum line enters.

Trace it back to the engine, disconnect and plug it.
If the sound is gone now you know where to look.

If you installed new intake gaskets, make sure they are the right ones. They can vary, and you will get leaks at the middle ports, though usually, it will be an exhaust leak.

Thanks; I didn't disturb the intake manifold.
With the air cleaner off; the noise is coming directly from the center of the carb.
Sounds like starved for fuel.....

Replaced vacuum hoses, fittings, PCV and grommet....
Blocked vacuum line back to AC.

Edelbrock claims if the carb gaskets overhang the intake crest, then this would cause the noise....
Well it's been like it for 7 years but I've ordered new gaskets including the heat insulator gasket.
We'll see.
