It was posted awhile back. Snyders engines all sound freaking awesome. Steel rods. That crew all like steel rods for big NA builds.

They weren't real clear in the article, but I gather this is making that big power with a factory Pontiac iron block and LSM lightening? Not an aftermarket block run through the LSM lightening program. Very impressive indeed and a nice article.

I believe this is an IA2 block.

The pictures of the block show it mostly dressed and the one of the top has the lifter valley cover on. The only shot of the bottom shows what look like straight bolt 4-bolt caps not splayed like an IA II. So not sure what it is.

Ive heard its an IA block. I believe the picture does show the caps as splayed. Its just the vantage point of the photo. Look at the outside bolts on the far side, they do look splayed.

Looks like splayed caps to me. It's a work of art

No argument. It's a beautiful piece for sure. I took another look at the one lower end picture and I think your right. Because the outer fasteners are bolts and the inner ones are studs. That's typical of a splayed cap set-up. Although all fasteners can be studs, removing the outer studs to get the caps off can be a pain, especially if they don't have a hex wrench broach in the end. Again, congratulations on a great build.

Looks like Chris had some pretty honest comments about the challenges he faced including the casting issues with the cylinder heads.
Flash back to 2011. Great build. Calvin Hill Hill Performance 708-250-7420 |

Casting issues seem to be part of the hobby, every manufacturer has had issues at one time or another (some more than others). It sucks but you deal with it and move on or change brands (which might not be any better).

IA2 Block.
Lots of challenges. Got it apart and planning to lean on it some more and see what we can do at World Cup. |

Yeah, that is what I was getting at. The BES guys like aluminum. Looks like most guys making big power like aluminum.
Just seems like every engine this bunch puts out has steel rods. Pro Stock runs a lot of steel rods too. I like to watch videos of Mike L and Snyder make runs on U tube just to hear the engines. Music. |

My observation is that power adder guys go aluminum and N/A is usually steel. I'm not saying this is set in stone just something I have noticed.
