That’s interesting there has been so much effort to develope design software but they still use 1950’s tech for production. If it’s true they’re still using manual machinery the difference from one operator to another operator and how often they change their cutters/grinding wheels could have a much greater effect than differences from one lobe design to another.

That is what I was referring to, the diameter of the grinding wheel will impact the transfer.

Reportedly Harold used an old 70's era program to design Ultradyne lobes.
The Voodoos and post Voodoo lobes were created with a more modern application.

Jones software creates digital lobe and master files in just minutes. I have Rick's version.
I did a super quick emulation of an inverse radius hyd roller lobe similar to OF (inside the red box). The master is outside the red box. If anyone is curious attached the .MTR file renamed to .txt that may be viewed in a text editor.

Many others use Blair's software - profblairandassociates.com
I don't know its capabilities.

Pretty neat. Looks like Bullet stepped into the 21st century with some of their production but still use the old school stuff.
I’ve known some old time manual machinists that can rival a CNC but it takes a lot of skill and it’s not as repeatable or consistent.
