Default When did Pontiac start shipping T/As with honeycombs in 1971?

I was sorting out some wheels and found a 8 27 dated 1971 honeycomb wheel. The code stamped into the rear outer lip read MI-0 and 8 27 KP. I didn't think the honeycombs were available until around the start of the year.

I have a set of wheels taken off a 71 T/A dated MI-0 11 30 with the spare dated 12 14, all with KP stamped. That fits with when I thought the wheels were first available.

For those of you with honeycombs on your cars, what are your build dates?

Mike

Default Honeycomb wheel question

I realize this is a very old thread but I am looking for some help. I have a set of honeycomb wheels that have M1 5 12 on the back side of the rim. I cannot find any other numbers. Any clue how to decode this? These are on my 71 TA.

Missing a digit possibly?

Check this out:
Rally Date Codes

Should apply to the Honeycombs I believe.
If the '1' is below the 'M' the date is May 12th 1971

thanks for the reply...took a pic and it looks like there is a number or letter below the M1---either a G or 6. Still cannot locate the letter code.
I know on the Rally's its on the outer rim and is easier to see. I'll keep looking but so far nothing. Could the letter code be where I need to dismount the tire? I doubt it would be in the front of the rim since its polycast.

Just TA's or Firebirds in general? Always find it odd that every single Camaro is not referred to as a Z-28.

If the 6 is below the MI then it is a 1976 wheel

Does look like a 1976 date.
(May 12th 1976?)
