67-70 TH400 "PQ" transmission
I'm on the hunt for a turbo 400 transmission with a "PQ" on the data plate for my 69TA.
I have a date correct 1969 "PQ" case but unfortunately somewhere along the line the valve body was swapped out. So.. what really I need is the valve body itself but will buy the whole trans to get it. 1967-1970 PQ transmissions used the same valve body so any of these years will work. Please PM me or send me an e-mail if you have one and are willing to part with it. Regards, Rob Jackson raj7395@sbcglobal.net

Do you know if there is any numbers on the valve body to identify it as to the years your looking for. ?

I didn’t realize PQ trans had a special valve body? I have a 70 400 out of a GP that’s been stored inside for the last 30 years if that would help at all.

Great question.
The production valve bodies all have a one inch tall yellow identifier code painted on the the valve body accumulator boss. The 67-70 "PQ" high performance TH400 transmission valve body that I'm searching for is code "AK-1". \ 1967 "PX" transmissions also have the AK-1 valve body that I need. Mine is a "R-3" indicating that it was swapped out at some point. My 69 "PX" transmission has a code "1P". Rob

The TH400 cast valve body itself is used in multiple applications.
What makes each valve body code different is the formula of springs, orifices, control spools, etc, that go together to produce the desired performance qualities. I haven't found a parts diagram that breaks down the unique combination of these internal parts by part number so I can duplicate it. If anyone has that breakdown I'd be grateful if you'd share it with me for valve body part number 862-5784.
