Heater control light
So what do you do if the prong thing that hold the black socket in the control housing is missing?
Anyone make it or something else to get socket to stay. I think it’s used in two locations on a 69…?

If they're like mine, you may find it inside the controller.

And the rear arrowhead lights for 68.
69 Tempest / LeMans too? The metal ring has tiny barbs that supposedly lock into the plastic socket. When replacing a bulb they sometimes pull out of the plastic creating a larger hole for the barb to lock Into. I've thought whether filling the small holes with epoxy and then pressing the ring into the epoxy would help keep the metal ring in place. I haven't seen the metal rings reproduced. I have seen same design NOS sockets on ebay for Olds and Buick from time to time. Don't know if they're the same size.

My MO when running into this is to fish the missing thingie out of the clock or heater control etc. Ever so slightly bend the hooks so they bite better, inject a drop of crazy glue into each hole in the rubber, install a new bulb and reinstall it and never touch it again. We will hopefully die of old age before it needs replacing!

Just like North posted, I do the same. Bend the barbs out a little and toss a dab of some adhesive in there before pushing the barbs back in. I used PC-7 epoxy last time.

So you've confirmed that it's not in the unit?
In that case Entropy's post looks like a good bet.

I believe that inline also sells a clock harness that includes two sockets including the metal prongs.

No, but that will work. The inline item I was referring to is a kit that has two of those fittings and the “Y” wire that connects the clock housing to the grey rheostat wire of the dash harness.

Peter, those are close to it.
The in line parts probably work too. Probably need to cut and re do wire connection.
