I know I vanished from Yenko; Yenko was my first board and I took on several after that more dedicated to my specific interest, inturn neglecting the Yenko.

However, I have recently neglected all due to record months here at work.

And a warm welcome from Texas, Bruce.

VERY interesting story, and like the others here I'll be looking forward to your pics and further details in the near future.

It's been son long ago, but I was either tracking down the studio or motor vehicle department; or then again maybe it was a random note. I can't remember.... lol

Call her and find out?

Welcome Bruce to PY Board and I can't wait to see the pics on the infamous Two Lane Black Top GTO Judge! By the way, wasn't it 8 Tracks and not cassettes that were played in the GTO through out the movie?

I'm pretty sure it was the cassette deck, I can still remember yelling "no way!" seeing a cassette deck in a 1970 car. Wasn't it some top loading thing on the console? My old copy of that movie was pretty dark in the interior scenes with the black interior not helping much for spotting details. Wow, haven't watched that movie in YEARS...time to get out the popcorn and dig it out! I can already hear my wife complaining - "NOT that movie!" she hates it!

Bruce, Welcome to the board by the way!

Later,
Dennis

Sounds like all our wives have something in common...they all hate TLBT. Mine won't watch the movie but she did let me hang a large TLBT poster in the computer room.

If you guys don't already have it, the newest release of TLBT by Criterion is FAR superior to the previous release; interviews with the director, producer, James Taylor, lots of photos taken during the making of the movie, etc. Well worth the $35 price.

So the TLBT car was really a RA4, I always wondered about that...thanks for clearing that up. 2 of the 3 55s still exist today so it's cool to know that at least 1 of the GTOs is also still around too.

I just watched that first Youtube link. OH that's painful when he pops the passenger door open for the hitch hiker while the cars tipped off the road at an angle! See the car bouncing as the doors banging off the hinge stops!?!?

Read here, article written DURING THE ACTUAL FILMING. Contemporaneous article should trump 35 year old memories. This link is excerpted from the article that appeared in SHOW magazine March 1971.

http://www.danaddington.com/denny/mag.html

See the description of the cast, crew, and vehicles they took on the road, 6th para. of the excerpt.

Definitely 2 GTOs (Judge or otherwise) and 3 '55 Chevys.

Elsewhere I have a grainy shot on location of the Auto transporter that was used to move the TLB cars from location to location. Unfortunately, not real clear. It looks like 2 of the Chevys and 1 GTO are on the transporter. Lots of other vehicles on the lot where it is parked including a camera rig truck with a 3rd '55 hitched to it by tow bar. Other cars surrounding the transporter too, but if one is the 2nd GTO, I can't make it out.

But no doubt in my mind, there were two GTOs used while filming TLB. How they were used or which one used for what shots, I have no idea. And whether both were Judges or even if both were originally Orbit Orange or perhaps one was repainted to match, how would we know?

HFR, cool catch on the Colombo movie pic. What about the '74/'75 Kolchak: The Night Stalker (same page)? Likely same car even though it appears to be getting a repaint and no stripes? I was a fan of Baretta and always loved the opening scene of the GTO. I also was a big fan of Kolchak (I remember it as a great show, wonder what it would seem like today?) but no way I remember a scene with a GTO in it.

Apparently "Car Craft" didn't think too much of it when it first came out....

Just curious why it didn't go back to original specs. (68 shifter, 8 track instead of the cassette deck, Judge stickers) A famous car like that sort of stands out as a beacon for "as seen on the movie screen" Hey, it's your car so you do what you want with it! just my unasked for opinion here; it's a beautiful car regardless!

Ok guys I thought I would drag this up again

I have taken to watching old Adam-12 episodes on HULU.com (mostly for old cars) and found something interesting in one of them so check it out, go to the 20 minute mark and sit back and watch.

http://www.hulu.com/watch/46145/adam...x-0,vepisode,1

It was the keystone wheels that started me looking and then the GTO decal where the Judge should be, there's no doubt it's one of the two lane cars..oh and it just happens that Universal studios is who did Adam-12

Wow, what a good eye. The Judge actually gets some good camera time after the 20 minute mark. Thanks for sharing Tim
