Why did you not do a redirect?

I agree.

I was on the Ames website and couldn't find the forum link on there unless I missed it. Also tried googling the website and did not find it.

Don't know how new people are going to find this board without someone linking them to it.

I am here because of an email from PY telling me the new link.

Let me know if I am missing something to search for this site.

I have read in another thread that an email was sent out about the change.

Well here is my problem and maybe a few others, that email was no longer good for me. I gave it up a month ago and it never dawned on my to change it here.

Aside from that a Redirect is always a good thing in such a situation, and especially a business.

Go to the Ames home page and scroll down. The forum link is just below the "New Products" banner. Once I found it I deleted my old link and bookmarked then new one.

Ames is going to add more links on their site so customers can find us easier. I'm not sure if you all knew this but Ames had a significantly larger customer base than PY did. Once they start promoting their new sponsorship with us, I think you are going to see quite a few new Pontiac enthusiasts here.

That's 'growth' in an industry that's not growing. You can't get any better than that!

We are also ramping up our Google campaign so we can make sure those that are new to the hobby, find out about the PY Forums.

Chris that's all well and good, I am glad you are happy with this merger and I hope it works for everyone involved.

What I am saying is http://www.amesperf.com/ should have been redirected, it is a very simple process that would ensure continued customer data base. Not all your customers were on the forum, and your customers should be the main focus.

I can't see Ames re-directing their home address to the forums. I mean, think about it...If I wanted to order something from Ames and put in their address and wound up here, how would that be?
A slightly more prominent link on their homepage would be appropriate but I'm sure they'll get that done.

Ya Greg, I agree. PY to Ames, the forum is secondary by a long shot.

That's what should get done and is likely to be taken care of today.

That will make things pretty much exactly how they were when we had PY retail business for all these years. The only difference is that PY had the forums under our own domain performanceyears.com Since the forums are still ours, we didn't want to be under the Amesperf.com domain.

Chris another FYI.

If you want to get the Forum completely away from business, I run a V Bulletin forum on Bluehost (excellent track record). And I am sure there are a dozen other hosts.

Chris,

I was just about to send my Rally Steering wheel up to PY to have it remolded. Who is doing this now? Can you recommend who to send it to?

I believe this was all poorly executed. Personally I had no idea of all of the changes until I found a link at FGF. Then one day later they killed the old link to PY. Not real smart to just kill off links that people had been going to since 2001 and before. They should have taken it slow with announcements to keep people informed and on their side. Junior mistakes.

Within your existing link/bookmark, change "performanceyears" to "maxperformanceinc". That will fix issues with links.

Why didn't Ames buy/keep the performanceyears.com domain?
Then it would all still be together, they could change the banners and stuff as it is now.

Will the forums be renamed APE forums?

CCass, do you still retain the PY, Performance Years, etc names/copyrights?

:(

Another consideration is I have links to PY on my sites, now they are all broken probably.

So, it will be easier to just remove them than try and fix them.

We're going to continue to do this service. The guy we use is literally the only guy in the country that does this and he's local. he won't work with anyone else.

That's good news Chris! Is the price still going to be $250?
