Making progress! Got the fenders modified to be correct for a 70. The NOS hood is mocked up for initial panel fitment.

So small change of plans when it comes to the hood. I couldn't live with the hood not being correct for a 70, despite it being a beautiful NOS hood. So, I ordered a reproduction hood, and will be cutting the inner structure out of my original 70 hood and grafting it into the new hood.

Just be sure to check the fit (flushness/margins) of the repro hood to your endura nose and fenders before you invest a bunch of fabrication time into it. I have no experience with the repro hoods, so they may very well be good ... but in general repro sheetmetal is not great in this regard, so should definitely be checked.

I've had decent luck with them before. At least in this case, everything is still down to metal, so things can be modified pretty easily, rather than a car that's already painted.

I was going to pick up a used hood, but all the ones available locally are either rotted out, or people are asking ridiculous money for them.

The hood is slowly morphing into a 70 hood. Still some small details to go. Those with a keen eye will see what still needs to be done.

Couple questions for you guys:

1. Are the screens in the fender extractors black, or body color? I've seen them both ways.

2. On the lower part of the endura nose, the flat lip that runs along the bottom, is it painted black so it's not visible when looking through the lower valance openings, or is it body color? Again, I've seen them both ways.

3. What is the appropriate finish on the hood hinges? And were the hinges and springs the same finish?

Thanks guys!

Semi-blank or did you mean semi-black on the screens? (I'm guessing black)

Hinges I think are 'natural', or phosphate washed, but will leave that to the experts.

Hinges are a black phosphate. I take the spring off when refinishing. ( use a come along on one end, and tie off the other. )
On the screens, easy way to think about is that there were Never Ever " Blue" screens..
Bottom of endura was body color. Yeah the black phosphate bolts are visible. I have seen some " blacked" out, but originals were white. Not such a contrast on a Lucy car ..

Oh yeah, that's right, the springs are natural.

The lower bumper flange was intended to be blacked out per Pontiac paperwork. Did some get missed on the line? Probably. But the intent was to have that area blacked out.

I would like to see this paperwork. Does it apply ONLY to White Trans Ams? I had an original white BASE 1970, and it was white.. keeping in mind it was probably older than most TA. I think Steve has one I will check next time I'm at the Foundation museum.

I don't recall ever seeing any "Pontiac paperwork", but I have owned a few original paint cars, and that lower flange of the endura nose was black. It would have required a masking process to do this (extra labor...), so it would not surprise me if some cars weren't done that way.
