Default To spoiler or not to spoiler....... or duckbill!!

As I go through the car in hopes to get it resprayed in the near future I wonder if a spoiler may be a good idea. They look great but I have to admit that rear clip looks pretty good without it too......

I know the big spoiler was a dealer option in 72 so its hard to track what car came with what and I am not sure how the duck bill thing came a bout either..

Just thinking it thru before I get it re Sundanced!!

Find a spare trunk lid before the car is sprayed?

Took it for a nice long drive and I gotta say it looks so good the way it is now and the reflective black GT script sticks out nicely, I am starting to think it may be overshadowed by a big wing and the duck bill would mean no GT sticker at all.

Starting to lean towards no spoiler.......

What a beauty, yes I can see why . Looks awesome.

Looks like a T-37? Would that mean 1971?

Opinion: the blue n orange 'wings' look like they overpower the back end of the car. The orange with the tail looks like what's on 2nd gen Firebirds. I like that on mine, not so much on the GTO.

There aren't many musclecars that came with a wing, so regardless of 'taste', they are cool.

But only bodies that originally could have come with one.

Same with the bird on the hoods.

Lots of great feedback and I guess I was wrong about the GT decal, you CAN still have it with the duckbill spoiler. Still on the fence and I may post a few more pics of the car taking into consideration its stance etc. while trying to decide.

Got to admit it looks really good both ways, tough one....

I went through the same decision when I painted my 72 Lemans sport vert with T41 front. I decided I wanted it the way it came from the factory. I now am happy I went that way as it looks good. Mine was sundance orange and painted it Lamborghini orange.

I'd offer neither, as your '72 L78 4spd LeMans GT w Y99 pkg is quite desirable & the further one modifies the appearance, from as originally delivered, the further it kicks it into what I call the "kid car" category.

Have to discourage drilling holes in the original decklid ('72 only inner stamping) or decklid & quarters.
If you must, go with another decklid, have it refinished as well, & propperly drill for a '70-71 rear spoiler.
