Why is the master cylinder on a 1970 GTO tilted and not flat? Is there some engineering advantage?

Power brakes used the lower hole on the pedal's arm.
Versus the manual ones using the upper hole. Because leverage. And now the pushrod is angled. If you wanted a flat master that'd mean lowering the booster, and you can see how that wouldn't work. HTH |
