Here are the differences of an assembly line Carter - versus assembly line Rochester
The date code format , and the little c inside a circle.

Both the Carter and Rochester QuadraJet's look very similar. OE will have a pick code (VB for the 7040264). Date wise Carter used a month/year (month=A to M, skipping I) whereas Rochester used a Julian date style (DAY/year, where day 001=Jan 1 to 365/366=Dec 31 depending on leap year).
Shown are two close to same build and a Carter replacement.

Your original carb. would have been dated in '69 probably.

Thanks guys!!!
Ya, it has other issues needing attention sooner than the carb. I've only drove it twice. About 10 miles home when I purchased it in early October, and this past weekend. About 6 miles down to the gas station & back. It seems to start right up & do what it's supposed to do. Kicks on high idle when it's cold. She's in winter hibernation now. Gonna tackle some things on it this winter. Re painting the rally wheels, new rubber, cleaning the engine compartment up to mention a few.

Thanks again, guys, and have a good Thanksgiving weekend

20 original style lugnuts... I think around 5 or them had the plastic insert missing. They are black in color. Each rim had 1 of the longer nuts I show in the picture.

Is that something they did from the factory?Click image for larger version

No, aftermarket.

Interesting. Those are correctly coded and dated wheels for your car, which is surprising since the window sticker didn't show that it came with Rally II wheels. Would be very difficult to find those if you went looking. I wonder if the dealer might have put them on when it was new because the buyer wanted them?

Did you ever check the tail filler panel to see if it was metal or fiberglass?

Question of the week.
Pertaining to the rear panel that surrounds the license plate.

Ransom meant the long lug nuts were aftermarket.
The ones with Black centers (lug nuts) are correct type for year.
And your actual center caps would be Red.
But they also make those in Black too - for earlier built cars.

Yea, IDK.
I thought they were on the window sticker, but it only says chrome wheel trim rings & F70 x14 white ltr polyglass. You would think it would almost have to be a dealer install when it was brand new.

I forgot to check for the pot metal piece in the tail panel. I'll look either this week or this coming weekend.
I plan on being in the trunk to apply some rust preventive paint to try & slow down the rust back there. It'll need a trunk floor & rear valance eventually, but I'd like to drive it a summer or 2 before that is tackled

Going out on the limb a bit maybe ...
But your car was built so early it was probably dealer inventory ordered.
Would have had the small hubcaps with trim rings RWL

The guy who bought it probably had the dealer switch the wheels from another new car on the lot.
He bought it on Feb 27

If you had PHS Invoice it would tell what day it was finished / ready to ship to dealer.
But it's not really needed with what you already have.

If the wheels were per se' ordered after the fact for dealer to install - they would very likely post-date the car by a bit.
Main thing is you have them and they don't detract value or looks from the car at all.

A magnet would stick to pot metal, right?
Magnet won't stick, & it looks fiberglass to me around the edges where the gas cap sits in thereClick image for larger version

Actually, no - a magnet will not stick to pot metal.

But if you see white fiberglass edges somewhere, that would be a tell. You might look up at the top of the opening where the license plate lamp mounts, too. Sometimes easier to see the edges there.

Don't see any white edges. Looks to be black under the yellow paint. The edges around where the license plate light is cut out, feel like plastic. IDK. If I was guessing, I'd say it's fiberglass Click image for larger version
