Default 3 tube headers?

Anybody running 3 tube headers on there Poncho? Pros, cons, other experiences. I'm thinking about purchasing a set for my 76 TA to replace the cheap summit small tube headers that were on the car when I bought it.

Personally I'd get the Hedman 28150; 1.75" Primary and have excellent fit on these cars.

Stay away from the 3-tubers. I have years of fighting with them as experience. Finally have got them to stop leaking. Don't fit well either, at least on my '70-'72 A-bodies.

I had early 3 tube headers on my 68 firebird. They rubbed/vibrated against the steering box on the drivers side and evenually dented in.

3 tube headers are the most expensive headers in the world, being that they cost something and are worth way less than nothing...

Thanks for the feedback. I guess not many have good experiences and that might explain why I had never heard of them until recently.

Default They're not that bad.....

A friend of mine had a +.030 455 with stock 6X-8 400 heads (8.6:1 compression), 3-tube headers/full 2-1/2" exhaust, and ran the Performer intake with a Q-jet carb. He used the HO Racing HC-01A cam (224/230 @ .050,.465/.492 lift w/1.5 rockers).

In a street '64 Lemans it ran 12.90s all day with 10X28 slicks, a TH350 trans and 3.08 rear gear.

They seemed to work okay for my buddy, they fit the chassis without interference and had decent ground clearance. They're not expensive and really not a bad choice if you're on a budget.

Thanks for throwing some positive comments in there b-man. I am doing a little more research to figure out how to stretch my limited budget farther. That or figure out a way to talk the wife into increasing the budget. There is soo much I want to do and soo little $, when I do spend it I don't want to have to redo it later.
