Talking Here kitty kitty

Awwwwwwww this cute little kitty came to visit just now, didn’t know cats ate bird seed. Lolol game commission told me they’re waking up looking for food because it’s been so warm here this year. It’s not a bit scared, I opened the door to try and scoot it away, but it just looked at me and kept eating. Kind of small I think it’s a female. I feed my birds and put water out everyday, guess she found it.

it was cool watching it through the glass doors, but I hope she leaves soon, my dogs keep trying to smell under my deck, hope she isn’t nesting under there. Game commission said they could give me a number of someone who traps and releases, but I think I’ll just take away her food source for a week and hope she moves on. Don’t want to have her moved in case she has a burrow near by.

They make amazing pets after they are descented! They easily litter box train & love to be petted & sleep on your lap. My good friend had one & when she was little he would put her in his inside coat pocket & we would go into a restaurant. He would open his jacket & pepper would poke head up & scare the crap out of the waitress! LOL

God Bless

I can enjoy it right through the window. I’m highly allergic to cats. I’m more a dog person. But it is cute.

Skunks are omnivores. They’ll eat just about anything.

Someone ran over a skunk in front of my next door neighbor’s house on Monday. Animal control came and took it away that day - it still stinks around here.

A line from a very old play that my parents were in. The play is about a hillbilly family.

Don't do like the lady on the commercial and invite it in for the night by mistake.
Would be a big mistake!

As she was eating I called State Game, as we recently had a fox bite our friend around the corner that tested positive for rabies. It was 3:00 in the afternoon, and I told him my concern seeing it out like that during the day, and it was a little scruffy. He told me seeing nocturnal animals during the day means nothing, it’s an old wives tale about seeing them during the day. He also said a rabid animal don’t eat, only drink. So eventually it’s belly was full of sun flower seeds and it waddled off into the woods. I’m not putting seed out again on the deck although cute to see, not a good idea drawing them to the house. Last week it was an opossum.

I like the people around here that feed their outdoor cats which in turn feed the coyotes. Then they complain about the coyotes in their yard. Skunks are out all over since I believe they're breading now.

We started feeding sparrows with a small hanging feeder about a month ago. Saw a big skunk on the front porch the other night as I was letting the dog out.

Ding ding ding!

Guess the sparrows can do without.....

Now, if we could only get rid of the deer! Counted 14 chewing up the front yard the other day.

Yeah I’m an avid Gardner and landscaper, we have 10+ acres in the country, and when we moved here I thought it weird no one had and shrubs, flowering trees, flower gardens etc. I soon found out why after spending thousands on trees, plants, garden pavers, trellises etc. we have a lot of deer they have actually been up on my deck at night after the bird feeders, even pulling them down and draging them across the yard. They have destroyed every plant, berry bushes, trees in my yard, they don’t even run away when I come out and yell at them. I even buy deer repellent sprays, it helps, but only until it rains and is pricey. Very frustrating. Here’s a few of the plants they go after as soon as they pop up.

Default skunk

You're lucky that it was a skunk. When you put out food here you may get a bear.

Thanks for the info on nocturnal animals.....But...
We had a skunk trap set at my former job. Caught one. Animal control officer picked up trap around 8:00 in am. We asked him fi that may have been a little risky (as in getting sprayed), he said No, skunks can barely stay conscious as daylight happens...of course this may only be for non rabies skunks.

I take the position of seeing an animal that can be a potential rabies carrier, seriously. Another instinct I've heard of...is that rabies infected animals have an instinct to bite another animal (or person). I wonder how true this is??? Whether it is true or not I'd NOT take a chance...

I love all animals and as cute as they are and as much as I’d love to pet them, they will always be wild animals with instincts to survive by any means they need to do so, primarily biting, spraying etc. the little skunk coming to eat my bird seed is no different then the wild turkeys that come to the feeders even deer. They’re just trying to survive some people are ignorant to this fact and will kill them. I prefer to simply let them pass through get a bite to eat and move on. So unless I know they are making a burrow under my deck to have babies, I don’t want to re locate them. So no bird seed out for a week until she moves on. I enjoy watching nature from my window, so my hope is that she’s moved on to a better choice for a nest.
