Preferred Fel-Pro gasket set for 455
Hey all, I'm going to order a gasket set for putting my 455 together, 6x heads, cast 1972 intake. I see there are 4 or 5 different Fel-Pro kits- is there a preferred go to kit I should get? Thanks,

Sealed Power 2601025
The gaskets in it are the same FelPro gaskets you get in the other kits, but this is usually less expensive.

Does that include the FelPro 1016 head gaskets? Those are the ones I always use.

The 1016 head gaskets are only sold separately.

The Felpro 1016 Head Gaskets are also included in the Felpro 2806 High Performance gasket set, we just used one on a 400 that we built. The set also includes the Felpro 1233 printoseal intake gaskets.

I NEVER use the 1016's, just the standard 8518's. I've seen 1016's leak coolant a few times, but have never had an issue with the basic 8518's, even with aluminum heads and 11-second street cars.
To each, his own. The Sealed Power 2601025 usually cost me about $65, and have worked great for me for the past 30 or so years.

I've reused the 1016 gaskets on my 455 blower motor 3 times, on the second time all I did was apply a film of blue gasket maker around the water passage holes and had no issues.
The head deck and the block deck must be good though, without even a hint of rust around the water holes.

It was late 90's / early 00's, but I saw 3 different 1016 equipped motors leak water. Maybe there was some temporary issue back then, and it has been resolved. But after having NO issues with the cheaper 8518's, I see no reason to buy the 1016's.
