Funny, nowadays, there are no 5 mph bumpers at all on new cars. They added weight and MPG took precedence, so in the trash they went. [by 1990ish.] Only took 20 years tho!

That and PMD wanted the car to come in a 4 door sedan, so the GTO name would not have worked. The Grand Am sold well for a new model car that was so different that the previous offerings (thank God for that).
