Default very early bumper date code

Hi Guys,

I have an early build (first week of production) 1970 GTO, but noticed my bumper code is really early, like 1968? is this possible, or am I reading it wrong? I also noticed that the gas door/plate frame is the 1964-1968 style too. Code is 8B18

The numbers are the dates without the year. If your bumper is for an early 1970, it will be "notchless" for no bumperettes, which I think started production around June 1970. The date you have is August 18, the year is implied as 1969.
