Default 71 gto project

Hi,I own a 1971 GTO 400 AT convertible that I am doing a frame off on.My dad bought the car in 1986 and I drove the car to high school.2 years ago I built a new garage and after I redid and painted my 74 nova I decided it was time to pull the GTO apart.I am not restoring the car to stock it will be more of a pro touring looking car but nothing will be modified that can't be put back to stock.I started by taking the body off the frame, stripping the frame down and getting it blasted.I totaly redid the frame and then rebuilt the 400 which is not the original but is a 71 block.I am now working on the body which is on a rotisserie and am currently doing lots of rust repair which will include a complete floorpan.

There was lots of rust and lots of brazed metal with rust but now is pretty much all fixed.I just need to order the complete floorpan with braces and install it and the body will be solid as new.

Nice to see you were able to save those quarters, and other pieces. Another 71 vert getting a nice resto treatment. Any thoughts on paint color, interior mods, and other ideas?

The car is original red with white int and top.I'mmost likely painting the car red but with a black int and top.The interior will be stock.I will finish the trunk up overhaulin style with side panels, subs, amp etc.So basically from the outside the car will look original except for the wheels/stance,it will just handle and stop alot better.

I hope to see it someday! Sounds like a cruiser. Here was mine that I owned since '87. I left it basically stock, but dressed up with crome valve covers, and added RA too.

Default Coming along nice.

That car is looking great. Amazed how much you did in your garage. Need to work on mine (the engine that is). Noticed that water pump was bad, with all the corrosion on the bottom of the water pump. Keep up the good work.
