The 360hp 428 had 10.5:1 compression and an 067 cam, the 276hp 428HO had 10.75:1 compression and an 068 cam. They both used the same head casting number, so I'm not sure how the compression was raised. The 428HO also had long branch exhaust manifolds

67 GP 428 4-speed
Many thanks for the replies. I have begun some work and have started gathering parts. I located a correct block from a fellow PY'er and it is now at the machine shop torn down. The good news is the block and heads are good. The bad is that the crank was cracked. I am now looking for the following:
A rebuildable crank set of 8 lug wheels (i know there were some differences over the years so I could use some help here.) full set of door panels, or if someone has experience with the repops I would like to hear from you. I intend to purchase a set of long branch manifolds, any opinions on what works best, what is closest to factory look? What else I will need or need to know? Someone here had some cornering lights for a 68 or 69. Are they the same? |

67 fullsize cornering lights are similar to 68-69 midsize (A body) but fullsize 68 and 69 corner lamps are completely different from 67 and each other

I didn't realize cornering lights were so popular.

With a little luck the body will be done and in new paint this winter.
The frame is now done, save for some minor touch up. The engine and tranny are all bolted up and it is 99% ready for the body to be installed. Still need the following to complete: fan shroud (w/ A/C) NOS grills (already have the headlight doors) NOS rt side rocker molding plastic cover that surrounds the power drivers seat base 4 way power seat switch 8 track player (assuming you could get one with a 4 speed and console?) battery tray |

The "plastic cover that surrounds the power seat base", are you referring to a thin black plastic strip that mounts low on the outboard side of the lwr seat frame. Not sure on a '67 or 68 B series bucket, don't believe they are same as the version used on the '69-72 A-body/GP bucket. Would you have a pic? Know the latter style pwr bucket seat track have shorter height tracks, and it's been extremely rare to find intact pop on plastic "seat track hiders" going back decades. Usually, they are broken. I have pulled strato bucket seats out of 67 Eldorado's several times & don't remember any "track hiders" each time when I changed the pwr seat track out to manual seat tracks.
Btw, really COOL project, looking fwd to more pics

I believe the plastic around the seat base might be the same in a stratobench car as the stratobucket. Its a shame but I ended up throwing one out about 2 yrs ago when I moved. The whole stratobench power seat in fact. Nobody seemed to want it. Anyway, the stratobench seats were in quite a few GM full size cars of various years, as were the strato buckets. So look at the chevys, Olds, Buicks, etc too. Problem is, nobody knows what they are, so if someone has them listed for sale they'll just call it a 1966 bucket seat from a blah blah blah. My way of searching for things like that is go into ebay, interior parts, seats and do a search for 1965-1970 bucket seats, or bench seats. Takes a lot of time though.
