Is the interior a gold color? It looked decent with the rally 2's on it w/ trim rings, jet my opinion... Luckily we have someone here with Carter parts, Jon Hardgrove!

Only GTO 400s and HO motors across the line got quadrajets in 1967. AFB carbs for everything else.
The poor “engineering” is disappointing but not surprising as unmolested cars are scarce after 50 years. I’m confident you’ll figure it out though ;-) |

Using the AFBs on the full size 67s with 400s was probably a smart move. As I recall, weren't there some problems with the Qjets when they were first introduced...in 1967? I carpooled with a guy for years that had a 67 Cat convert w the 400 4 barrel setup. It was no muscle car, but it would move damn good. It had the factory AFB setup rated at 325HP if memory serves me correctly. His next door neighbor convinced him to try some huge holley carb on it instead of the AFB. That didn't last long. Car ran completely like SH**t with that setup.

The real Carter AFB's are fine not the later E-clone that gave it a bad name.
I build AFB's along with every other brand for people and the AFB's are quite simple...easy !. Looks like I have another test mule to wideband on & tune carbs on. So now my brother claims that our parents 67' GP vert went better than his 70' GTO....and this is back in the day when these cars were new. All I know is the 670 head is closed chamber and you may gain a few cc's over the 12's or 13's in the 70' Goat...he made no mention of his 65' GTO... I did read an article somewhere the qjet in 67' made more power but was down 10 ft lbs in tq.

I don't ever remember anyone complaining about the real AFBs....just the E clones. What's your source for the supposed AFB problems? Wonder how many of the Carter AFBs were made in total? 500+ variations over at least a timeframe from 1958 - 1966. Had to be in the millions I would think

This car has 670's
I tried to turn it over by hand but it is stuck. I'll keep at it with oil but I may have to pop it out of the car.

There's been many cures for stuck engines here.
I have used automatic trans fluid with great success. , I use a transmission funnel in spark plug hole and fill each cylinder until it runs out...yes a little messy...

50/50 mix of acetone and trans fluid works great, don't get it on paint.

Thanks for the suggestions guy's I will take your advice and move onto the more aggressive steps.
Looking inside with a black & white camera it did not appear bad at all and I figured it would turn even without oil. I poured in Mystery oil thinking a little lube is better than dry. I'm going to the 50/50 mix

I have heard great things about the 50/50 mix. I just used ATF because I always had plenty of it.
That carport was VERY moist. I think that you will get it working. Oil it up and walk away for a few weeks.

Mine was in the movie too. It was in the bay of the shop and it looked the rear 1/4 was down to bare metal. You saw it for about 8 seconds.

So that was a real shop?
She walks in and the guy says he's got a GP on lift when I look it is 4-door and looks to be about a 70' Catalina

There was a 70 Bonneville sitting on the lift with no nose on it, My GP was in the last bay.
Those set design people are amazing. They took and old DPW garage and made it look like a shop that had been there for 20 years. It may as well been a real shop!

The car scout was interested in using my 65 Bonneville convertible but the director didn't like yellow. When the scout told me about one of the movie scenarios, I explained to him that what they were going to do was incorrect and it turns out that they took my advice...but i don't even remember what the advice was! The 1970 Bonneville was supplied by my friend's salvage yard.
