I believe in the 1972 model year, blue interior was only available in the custom trim group.

You're right, Alan. I'm so used to asking that question in general that I asked it without thinking!

I've had three 1972 Trans Ams 4-spds and one automatic.

Car 1: A white 1972 4-spd with deluxe blue interior and a/c. I sold it to a friend, who owned it a few years and then sold it to someone in the GA area. It had the original motor, trans, and rear end at the time it was sold. The car had been painted Lucy Blue at some point, but it was originally white. It bought it from a guy who lived in the Burlington NC area around 1984.

Car 2: It was a rough Lucy Blue 1972 4-spd with standard black interior, no a/c. It had a SR block with most of the original motor, was was in pieces. A guy had started restoration, but got in over his head and sold it as a dismantled car. I bought it for the motor in the late 1980s, later sold the body with clean title a few years later.

Car 3: It was a white 1972 4-spd with black interior. The previous owner started restoration, but got in over his head. It had the original block and heads and rear end, missing the M22. I sold it about ten years ago.

Car 4: It was a blue 1972 automatic with a/c, deluxe tuxedo interior. It was missing the original motor, and had a 400 w/6X heads in it at the time. The body had some rust starting to bubble up on the lower quarters. I bought it around 1983 or 1984, sold it about a year later. I didn't want to put quarters on it, plus I found a 1974 SD455 4-spd I wanted, so it moved on.

The last I heard, Car 1 ended up in CA a few years later. Car 2 and 3 ended up in the mid-west, and were most likely restored. Car 4 was being driven and was in the Charlotte NC area for several years.

Thanks, poncho-mike. Would you happen to have any VINs available?

4dblnkldude, thanks for buying the book. I hope you enjoy it!

Hello Rocky, somewhere I have the title and VIN tag from a 72 TA. The car was a total rust bucket and missing the original block. When I locate them I will send you some pics.
