Some people aren't happy unless they've got something to complain about.

Funny...

On my Camaro board - other than a Yenko - people pretty much agree the Firebirds are worth more than a similarly equipped Camaro.

Just sayin'....

Without this thread how would PHS (Jim) know that customers are not happy?

How do you throw out a car model and keep a valid argument? What ever.

Back on topic. I've been invited to talk over the latest changes within PHS. I just might do that tomorrow...

It can be debated all day long if early Firebirds will more than an equally equipped Camaro, but one thing that cannot be debated is that a Camaro is a LOT easier to sell than a Firebird. There seems to be 10x more buyers out there for Camaros than Firebirds; and I'm a Pontiac man thru and thru.

Kinda makes one sick to witness it at auction. Sort of like watching the 2012 election unfold.

Who threw out a model?

Chevrolet never made a Camaro model called a "Yenko". Don Yenko made the Yenko Chevrolets.

Is a DOCUMENTED Royal Bobcat Firebird worth more than a regular Firebird?

I think so.

You just made my point for me. There are "DOCUMENTED" Yenkos worth more than others. It's about coattails, man. Lower optioned Camaro value is directly impacted by high option Camaros, just like any other car model. From what I see at auction, the Camaros pull more coin. I'll keep close tabs on it Sept 4-7 for ya...

I'm going to add to my point and then I'm done with this, unless you want to start a thread in the Firebird forum. It isn't viable to consider just "similarly equipped" Camaros and Firebirds. You have to take into consideration the entire model line and match up based on position in those model lines. COPO Camaros are top dog in the Camaro line. You can't just ignore it, because they have impact on "lesser" Camaros. Same goes for RAV Pontiacs on "lesser" Pontiacs. Considering all options on both sides you don't end up with top optioned Z/28 vs RAIV. You get top optioned Z/28 vs RAIII. Pontiac is always lagging behind a model option or 2 and it is reflected in values. If COPO, Yenko, Baldwin and others never existed I'd bet the value differences wouldn't be much different just from popularity. More bidders means more money. It is auction prices that drive the market, appraisals and insurance values.

If you take the top dogs out of the race you have a bunk race.

What we have here is a failure to communicate!

Your documents are for a '65.

'65 Billing History Cards regardless of Plant are directly decodable using the Pontiac Sales Codes.

It is ONLY the '64 PHS documents for the Kansas City & Baltimore Plants that PHS cannot properly decode.

In '64 Group 2, Code L did not specifically identify the 4 spd at Kansas City.

Fisher Body-Kansas City used that code in '64 whenever a floor shifted Manual Trans was specified (3 spd or 4 spd), so I am pretty certain it indicated the floor pan cutout which was performed by Fisher Body at Kansas City.

In '64, this code was NOT used by Fisher Body at the Pontiac Plant because the floor pan cutout was performed on the Final Assembly side at that Plant, not by Fisher Body.

In '65, with the mid year intro of the Heavy Duty Dearborn 3 spd, Fisher Body-Kansas City used a different code for the cutout required for that trans (Code 2B). I do not know for certain, but I would bet that the Muncie 3 spd trans was also coded 2L in '65 whenever it was specified with a floor shifter.

Gotta be careful to distinguish between '64 & '65 when discussing decodes of PHS docs.

Without PHS, there would be 20,000 69 Trans-Ams and of course every other Firebird would be a 400 RA, and as we all know, TriPower and Judges would outnumber base models everywhere you turned. There would be lots of funky RA Tripower cars with special set-ups too, all factory ordered back in the day. Lots of "1 of 1s" so to speak!

If a 69 GTO showed up to a show and wasn't a Judge then people would have their eyebrows raised, just like when you are at a cruise-in and some hubcapped 327 2 barrel Camaro comes in with a flat hood. Everyone gets all excited and thinks it is a survivor with some grandma behind the wheel if it isn't an RS/SS car with a cowl hood.

I happen to be a fan of PHS. I also, being a libertarian to the core- believe if you don't want to get one, then don't order one. No one is compelling you. I think it a great thing to have, almost mandatory in my life, but I figure that if you don't believe in its worth then nothing I can say will change your mind. That 65 bucks buys a tank of gas.
