That is definitely true. It is also amazing how fast time slips by when you are doing a project like this. I started tearing the car apart 6 years ago. It really doesn't seem like it has been that long.

It will. judging by what I see, your following that old rule "Plan your work and work your plan".

I am definitely doing that, it is almost overwhelming at times. I learned to write down my ideas and work out a sequence so once I complete a project I don't have to take it back apart to do another project. What has delayed me the most is waiting on the body work. The car has been at the shop for three years now. But all of the local car guys would always tell me to be patient and wait because I would be very satisfied with the end result. I would also regret if I got impatient and moved the car somewhere else only to be dissatisfied with the work. The normal wait time for the really good restorers is 2 to 2 1/2 years for you to work your way to the top of their list and for them to start on your car. So I guess I am within what other shop wait times are around here. You can get others to do it sooner, but then there is a reason why they don't have a lot of people in line for their work. It will all work out and I will be excited to get the car back and get it finished.

A little closer. Next I am going to order some custom wheels for it so hopefully they will be here by the time the car comes back.

What style rims? I vote from chrome 5 spoke, but I'm biased

I have decided on the American Racing Hopster, 17x7 front 17x8 rear. One reason is because it is a custom wheel and you can choose your backspacing and the other is that I really like the looks on these cars, kind of looks like a modified Hurst rim, plus not everyone else at the local car show will have some version of it like the Torque Thrust wheels, which was my second choice. With my setup I could not use any off the shelf wheels because they did not have enough backspace.
Here is what they look like on a 67.

Here's my '64 being rubbed out and the after shot in my driveway. Looks like the reds are fairly similar. Mine is Grenadier Red, a stock '64 color.

That red looks very nice. I am used to the red for the 66 which was darker. I did not realize the red for the 64 was brighter. That is the reason I went with the Toyota red, I wanted a bright red that did not have any orange or purple undertones.

Sweet! the chrome will really pop off that red. I can't wait for finished pics. But then again, look who I'm talking to... I could never wait this long for a finished project! My head would just

I am hoping to have it back on the road by next Spring. We shall see. It all depends on if I run into many problems getting the new wiring in and getting everything hooked back up and working. Oh yeah, then the is the thing of getting the engine started and running again. But it will all work out.

If you need it, I have a brand new rear harness that I never took out of the bag.

I appreciate the offer. I have actually already bought all new harnesses from M&H Electrical Fabricators, INC http://www.wiringharness.com/ They seem to be really good quality. The only one I did not replace is the flat ribbon that goes along the floor. The wires were one of the worst parts of this car. After 50 years of people cutting wires and the heat of Arizona making the covering extremely brittle I could not bring myself to putting them back in and risk a short and a fire. I did buy a colored wiring schematic to hopefully make it easier to figure out which wire is for what. I might need lots of alcohol for this project
The interior was still original too and if you touched the headliner your finger would go through it, so except for the door panels it is getting a new headliner, carpet, custom seat covers, etc.

I ordered the wheels this week, American Racing Hopster Polished/Chrome wheels. The center is chromed and the barrel is polished. Seems like a weird combination but they get really good reviews and they look really good in the pictures. We will see when they get here. They are saying 3 to 5 weeks to get them made and delivered. Once I get them and get tires on them I will post pictures.
