I did this project once at work using a wrinkle paint rattle can. I also had access to a heated air dryer. It took a few times before I got it right but it worked out great. I'd gladly pay $55 to get another one done as they can be tricky.

Finished and shipped 8 more collars. Even got to do a spare of my own. Still working on a better Red. Have done a Blue, but need to compare to a 79 with blue interior. Also blending camel trying to nail that color down.

Default Very nice!

Hey Bruce, received my refinished collar in the mail today. Looks terrific! Well worth the $ and I'd highly recommend.

Bruce, do you know when they went from the skinny slot to the the wider one? And, can you fix one like this? Plus for those who don't know, there is a length difference between the two.

I just did one from my 73 Formula which had the early part number, but the wider tapered "V". I think the "full" part number( 6000 etc) and wider V transformation had to be around '75.
I had like 20 sitting here one day a couple weeks ago and measured them.
The height difference was like 1/8 " inch at most between a 1970 and a '78.
Have installed both types on a 69, and 71, and 72 steering column with no issues
and no noted gap difference.
The early ones are THE reason why these were made in Texture. The liquid Aluminum poured into the ceramic mold around the Steel core could have air pockets which causes imperfections. I have fixed a lot of those and they require more Hot epoxy and finishing before I final coat them.
Typically the quality of the newer ones redone is better, But I have stepped it up on the early ones so I am confident in show quality.
Had a guy bring me a repop here that he wanted redone because it was NOT round at the base . Glad he was a walk in, cause he walked it on out!
Threads Have to be good !
Replied to your PM, Mike.

Bump, just finished another batch and shipped out. I do NOT like doing this in the summer heat, so by June I will wrap this up till late fall. Still working on other colors, which requires a lot of trial and error. Red will be first though, Post '76 color.
