Default GM/Pontiac wheel 5 lug bolt pattern?

Are there any differences on the 5 lug bolt pattern for pontiac wheels from the 50's to the 70's. Also are all GM wheels with 5 lugs interchangeable?
My friend wants to mount some 15" wheels on a 55 chieftan and he found on craigslist that are off a 77 chevy . Is this doable?
I also want to swap my 1960, 14" wheels to 15" wheels.I was told any 5 lug GM wheel would fit. Is this correct??

Here's a wheel bolt pattern list for reference: http://www.teufert.net/wheels/bolt-pat.htm Our old Pontiacs have a 5 x 5" pattern, a '77 Chevy may or may not - some have a 5 x 4.75" pattern, heavy duty chassis cars (station wagons, cop cars) have 5 x 5".

Your 55 Pontiac should already have 15" wheels. Should be 15x5.5. Pontiac went to 14" wheels in 57.

All full size Pontiacs from at least 1940 through 1976 are 5 on 5. After that, I have both with 4 3/4" and 5 on 5. easy way to tell is the 4 3/4" are the smaller 7/16" studs like the birds 'n GTOs.
