Non-A/C 1971 Norwood car.

My heater box has two screw holes on the face to the left side just above the plastic outlet. I recall there was a chromed clip for the CB radio mic screwed into those two holes when I got the car. But it looks like at least Camaros came with a bracket that holds the heater control cables and uses what looks like the same two holes. It doesn't show in the MPC for the Firebird, but I wonder if there was indeed a bracket that should be here?

Link and picture to one on eBay with the bracket - I know it's a plastic housing and mine is a metal housing. And a scan on the MPC drawing. It doesn't show the bracket or holes but perhaps it was added after the drawing. I've never come across a part number for the bracket in the Firebird stuff, either. Click on the pictures and they should come up bigger.

Thoughts? Thanks for any input. I'd rather get a bracket than weld up the holes...

A buddy with a 1971 Camaro sent me this picture of his restored heater box. He also sent me one prior to restore and it's there also.

IIRC the Camaro's had the heater controls over by the drivers door (clear on the other side of the column) so it's possible that the bracket was there to stabilize cables which were a couple feet longer than ours.
I looked at he ones I have in my garage, and neither had any evidence of anything being connected there.

Good thinking and logic. Makes perfect sense to me.
