Question Eastwood steering wheel restore kit

Anyone use it?
I have posted about painting my dash. I would like to paint the wheel at the same time.

Reading some of the reviews on the Eastwood site about the kit was a mixed.

The POR looks a bit pricey but may be a better kit.

Eastwood sells two kits

This is the POR15 putty. I honestly think 'kits' are a waste of money because they usually include things that most car guys already have on hand.

Anyway, this is a wheel im restoring for my 65. I used a dremel to open up the cracks. The putty is very easy to work with,is water based and is ready to sand in about 15 min.
It can be molded easy and sands and feathers very well with 180 and finer grits.
The cost of the POR15 putty was $20.

After one round of putty and some lite sanding. A little primer surfacer will be next.

Yeah,i expect it to crack eventually. But just like with repro parts that are hardly ever right you take what you can get. These wheels are hard to find in decent shape and having one restored or buying a restored one will set you back at least $700. And i lots of putty left if i need to redo it.lol.

Im thinking a few coats of primer filler to fill the sand scatches, then some gloss black followed by clear. both in lacquer just because im an old guy and prefer to use lacquer anytime i can.
