Default Paint suggestions for diecast grille

I want to touch up - partially redo the flat black paint between the grille bars on my 60 Ventura. I've scuffed up the areas between the grille bars, cleaned the areas and am about ready to get to painting. I'm fairly certain this was originally done in lacquer...might be wrong tho. Anyone have any good suggestions for a rattle can flat black to squirt on this? Good ole krylon....or.......????????

Forgot....the grille assemby is a chromed diecasting.

Thx for any suggestions.

go to a Menards and get thier rattle-can "epoxy" which is really epoxy ester. It has excellent adhesion to most surfaces.

I should have stated that I didn't remove all of the original paint...so it's partially scuffed chrome + scuffed paint. Will the epoxy stick to the scuffed paint?

Thx for the reply BTW

If you are set on using an aerosol product, epoxy ester will adhere as well as anything and better than most. Should adhere to scuffed/sanded paint well. If you decide to upgrade, use a 2 componenent epoxy thru a gun, then topcoat.

I would remove all existing paint , start fresh as topcoat may react with undercoat . I use a product called Bulldog® Adhesion Promoter - Aerosol

Bulldog® Adhesion Promoter is designed to promote in a spray-can paint adhesion to all automotive surfaces, even problem plastics. It works equally well on all flexible or rigid plastics, fiberglass, aluminum, glass, chrome, vinyl, galvanized metal, and painted surfaces. Bulldog acts as a tie coat by allowing several different surfaces to be painted at the same time to assure a smooth, flawless, durable finish every time. Then if using a spray-can use Rustoleum Industrial enamel , sets fast and gets hard .
