1974 Pontiac Trans Am 455
The time has come for me to sell my Trans Am. I have owned it since 1985 and it has been the source of a lot of fun for me. I wanted to offer it to the PY community first because you guys have been so good to me.
It’s a 1974 Trans Am 455. Admiralty Blue over off white deluxe interior with a black dash and console so the tuxedo look. Options include AM FM stereo. 8 track, rear defog, power windows, AC, console, custom trim group. The car was sold new at Dave Pyles motors in Marlow heights Maryland around Dec 1973. The gap between there and spring of 1985 I have no known history of the car, only that it had a South Carolina title prior to my owning it. The story of my ownership can be read in HPP. The car has been in two Pontiac magazines (HPP /Pontiac Enthusiast). It has won or placed highly in several local and national events. The highest honor being the HPP editors choice award by Tom Demauro May 2006 in Virginia (Pontiacs in the park). http://www.hotrod.com/cars/featured/...-trans-am-455/ In 2004 the car went thru an extensive frame off resto. The dash was the only thing that didn’t come off of the car as I was concerned about damaging it. All the details are in the HPP article. The car was shown and raced from 2006-2013 participating in the F.A.S.T. series as well as Trans Am Nationals ,POCI and the Pontiac Tri Power nationals. In 2013 the engine and transmission was moved to a lighter 1974 Formula to continue my racing. So, the car has sat garaged and covered without an engine or transmission since then. In late 2014, after selling the Formula I began gathering parts to get the Trans am back to its original and correct state. Mainly to take to cruise ins and for ice cream with the kids. So, to this point I have the correct YW standard block, correct rebuilt 4x 1h heads(Kyle Tew),Comp roller camshaft, 455 crank, correct intake and Carb(restored/built by Cliff),correct points distributor as well as the correct PZ turbo 400 (built by Cliff)and several other small parts that will come with the car. Currently the car sits on correctly restored 15x7 honeycombs with BFG 225 70 15 tires with no miles on them. The correct GM 10 bolt rear end in the car has a correct stock 3.08 posi. The car will come with the PHS and all of the historical documents and items I have collected over the years. Condition-The paint still stands tall. I had people asking me who painted it right up until I parked it. Very few flaws can be found around the car. I invite any prospective buyer to come to see the car in person. I will be adding pics off and on over the next week. Price- My asking price is $24000.00. In my opinion the car turn key is a $28-32k car. Depending upon parts selection/machine work there is about 3-5k left to have it running and finished. If you found/bought a rust free 1974 455 TA and disassembled/show painted it you would be beyond my asking price and it would take a year or more to do it. delaiglej@bellsouth.net

That was such a cool car when it appeared in HPP.
So it isn't set up for 4-speed anymore? And it's apart? |

The car has been back to its factory automatic setup since 2010.

Jay, are you sure?
High school graduation gift from your dad, that's a life keeper! Take it from a guy that's still looking for the graduation gift he got for over 20 years now. Don't do it! |

FYI...
he is NOT exaggerating one bit about this car! I dare say you would be pleasantly surprised and this is not a car you would want to cut any corners on...as it is all top-notch so far. Cannot believe it is for sale myself.

I have seen Jay's car many times at various shows. It is as nice as it gets. You can't go wrong with this car for the price. It will make a nice piece for an interested party.
