Default Future mechanic

I got this for my grandson's 4th birthday, Luke Skywalker's 'Landspeeder'. It was originally $249.00 at Toys R Us, dropped to $199, then $149 and I finally picked one of the very last ones for $100 before they closed the doors for good.

He would get out of it every few minutes and walk around the back to 'fix' the engines. Even on his other toys he seems to be more concerned about how they work than actually playing with them. I hope it just continues.

Definitely something you can nurture, that natural curiosity that children have. My 12 year old grandson is always designing and making things. He wants to know how everything works. Very important to minimize tv, computer, smart phone influence at the early ages when those things will absolutely kill important development in a child.

Great stuff here. As a tot, I always liked to tinker, and my parents got me an erector set, tinker-toys, legos, and a tricycle with a tool kit. I played with the toolkit more than I rode the trike. My grandparents gave me a tool set when I was 6, and 51 years later, I still have (and use) the small vise that came in that kit. I became a mechanic when I came of age and have been in the automotive industry ever since. Very important to nurture a small child's creativity, rather than plugging them in to electronic distractions. My hat is off to you!!

The whole "buying stuff for grandkids" is such a neat place to be.

I remember as a young parent seeing cool stuff but we just didn't buy it for the kids; maybe we were too busy or it seemed like we couldn't afford it at the time.

My dad was the one that always seemed to come up with something neat and unexpected.

Now - I'm the grand dad!

If I had known how much fun this was going to be I would have skipped having kids and gone straight to having grand kids.

If the young kids don't become mechanics, how else are they going to learn how to piece together an impressive string of swear words?
