North Central Louisiana. About 30 minutes South of Ruston. About 7 miles East of Jonesboro--out in the woods, and a LONG way from CA.

Yeah, that would make for one hell of an expensive $800 455. Weak.

Here's a couple of pics. All I had to clean the holes with, was the end of a batt term brush, which only went in about 5/8" or less. Don't have any bolts here. TJ nor I could see any stripped threads. I'll have to get a bolt tomorrow to run in the holes and check 'em out.

While I was over at the barn, lookin for the bell housing , I also ran across what appears to be a 1973 casting #491244 Q-jet intake. Appears to be in decent shape. If it has no stripped holes or broke off bolts, I'll take $150 + exact shipping cost, by cheapest method.

By the way, I'd like some ID help on that intake. I thought all '73 intakes had the EGR valve holes, coming out the passenger side, just under the carb mount. It was sorta dark in the barn, and I couldn't see it real good. But I don't think it had the EGR holes. It did have a plate, where the hot air choke plumbing goes. So, I called myself looking for the EGR holes--didn't see any. So, does this # intake have the hot air choke provision, but no EGR. And I didn't notice the big sump under the bottom, either.

So, if this was, maybe, an early '73, that indeed does not have the EGR stuff, that makes it as good as the '72 intakes, for use with '72-up heads, which have the blind holes. I noticed that there are 3 different intakes listed for '73. I have pics of the pass side of the other 2 numbers , but not this one. Both the others do have the EGR stuff.

The only pic I have of a 491244 is of the driver side, with carb on. I'll try to dig mine out and take pics tomorrow.

Default Positive ID

OK, I went to the barn in the daylight and pulled out the '73 intake. And unfortunately, it looks exactly like the other 2 casting # '73 intakes. It definitely has the provision for the EGR valve. And it has the big ugly sump underneath.

And that sucker is one heavy chunka-chunka heavy iron. According to my bathroom scales it weighs 47lbs.

So, unless somebody needs this for a numbers matching build, it is probably not worth shipping. So, the price is now $50 +actual shipping costs, by cheapest method.

I also ran a bolt down into the cleaned portion of threads, in the 4-speed bell housing. It goes down just fine with fingers only. No indication of stripped threads. Price still $75 + shipping.
