Default 1976 Trans Am 455 4 Speed Drivetrain

Just picked up a complete '76 drivetrain from a TA. Subframe, motor, trans and rear. The guy just dropped it all out to build a PT car so all brackets, shifter with linkage and all. I'm having trouble finding the codes for the rear, this appears to have a PT G82341 stamped on the rear. The trans looks like a ST10 but has a cast iron case? I thought ST10 were aluminum. Any thoughts or help?

Try this for the axle:

Axle Code Search

Put PT in the input box.

Look and see what the number is on the passenger's side of the transmission case. I think some 81 Camaros came with a cast iron case super t10 and there was an over the counter super t10 with a cast iron case and tougher gears. The cast iron case should be a 904 case.

Correct, the 904 case was later I have read. Looks like the aluminum cases were giving a little trouble so they went iron beginning in late '79 or early '80. There are no visible numbers on the VIN pad on the passenger side. Still doing a little research.

Anyone have the correct carb number? I can find the '76 400 carb numbers.
