700R4 in a 69 Firebird Dipstick question ??
We installed a 700R4 in our 69 Fb. Works great! However, they installed that Lokar braided transmission dipstick tube as they said the oe tube wouldn't fit. I do not like the braided stainless dipstick tube, it looks aftermarket, the hole to add fluid to the tranny is tiny, and since its mounted on the firewall it's nearly impossible to get a funnel over it without the hood interference. I found this oe appearing tube that claims to fit 67-69 Camaro's with 700r4's. Has anyone tried it in a 69 FB or do they know what tube might fit?

Whatever you use for a dipstick, make sure that there is a good seal with the O-ring on it. If not you will have a puddle of transmission fluid on the floor after the car is parked for a while and not driven. The transmission cooling lines and the torque converter will drain back into the transmission after sitting for a while. The fluid level will then be higher than where the tube goes into the transmission.
